Good morning, FAmily! Happy “Split-Slate Wednesday “in major league baseball.  Wednesday is a day that is split between day and night games across the baseball landscape. For MLB DFS purposes we will be covering this evening’s nine game slate that locks at 7:05pm ET on all three sites- DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo Fantasy. With expensive yet elite pitchers like Gerrit Cole and Jacob deGrom on the mound we will need to find some value. To get the big arms and bats in your lineups you will need to find some value plays and that’s where we come in. I have spent the morning researching and coming up with the best point per dollar plays on the slate. Also, the weather forecast looks pretty good but make sure to check our MLB Weather Center before lock. We also have MLB Lineups, MLB Vegas Odds plus projections and a lineup builder in our Fantasy Alarm MLB Tools page. So, let’s get right into it and open Wednesday’s MLB DFS Value Vault...

MLB DFS VALUE PITCHERS

Lance Lynn (CWS) $8.0K DK/$8.9K FD/$28 Yahoo

Lance Lynn is finally looking like the Lance Lynn of old. It took over half of a season, but the veteran righty is starting to get on track for the final stretch run of the season. He was pretty dominant in his last start by throwing six innings and allowing just one earned run to go along with eight strikeouts and only one walk on the road against the Orioles. One thing that is noticeable is that Lynn is throwing more curveballs and cutters and it is working as he has a 2.73 ERA/0.91 WHIP with 29.1% K rate, 2,70 SIERA, 0.99 BB/9 and 14% whiff rate over his last five starts. He is facing a Royals offense that is struggling at the plate against right-handed pitching with a 24.8% K rate and a horrible team 0.91 ISO/.256wOBA. Lynn will be a popular play tonight in both cash and GPPs due to his low price and great matchup.

James Kaprielian (OAK) $6.7K DK/$7.9K FD/$34 Yahoo

Value at pitching is really lacking tonight on all three sites. James Kaprielian is coming off a bad start against the Yankees where he coughed up eight runs in just 2.2 innings of work but overall, he hasn’t been all that bad over the second half of the season. Besides this last start against the Yankees, Kaprielian had double digit fantasy point games in five of his six starts since the All-Star Break. He had an ERA of 2.56 with a 7.7 K/9 strikeout rate. Tonight, he faces a beatable Nationals team that is striking out 23.2% with a team .164 ISO to right-handed pitching. Kaprielian will be in pitcher-friendly Nationals Park and has pitched better on the road this season with a 3-3 record to go along with a 4.08 ERA/1.27 WHIP compared to 0-5 at home with a 5.87 ERA/1.61 WHIP. GPP only but Kaprielian is worth a shot if multi-entering lineups tonight.

MLB DFS VALUE HITTERS

Jake McCarthy (ARI) $2.9K DK/$2.7K FD/$15 Yahoo

James Grande, one of my fellow MLB writers here at Fantasy Alarm, has been screaming from the roof tops about Jake McCarthy for over a month now. Well, James has been right on target as McCarthy is raking and one of my favorite value plays on the board. As a matter of fact, he is not the only D-Back value in play as you can add Stone Garrett, Emmanuel Rivera and phenom Corbin Carroll to the list tonight. With his playing time at a bit of a risk now with the Carroll call-up, McCarthy is making it real hard for Torey Lovullo to sit him. He is coming off a 2-for-5 game last night where he jacked a home run, triple and five RBIs against the Phillies. He now has at least an RBI in eight of his last 11 games and hitting .353 with seven stolen bases and 159.7 wRC+ over his last 20 contests. Southpaw Bailey Falter has been good against left-handed bats but still has a bad 5.31 xFIP and is allowing a 40% flyball rate while McCarthy has been solid on the reverse split with a .345 wOBA and 38% hard contact. Ride the hot hand as well as the rest of the cheap Snakes tonight.

Victor Reyes (DET) $2.3K DK/$2.6K FD/$10 Yahoo

Victor Reyes is quietly one of the hottest hitters in baseball and is still sitting at near minimum price on both DraftKings and FanDuel. He is called a quiet assassin in Detroit- a player with gap power and speed that can make things happen at the plate and on the base paths. Over the last 15 days he is slashing .326/.375/.465 with an OPS of .840 and now gets a matchup against left-handed Marco Gonzales who can turn into a gas can at a moment's notice. Gonzales comes into tonight’s matchup with an atrocious xFIP of 5.32 and 12.2% strikeout rate to right-handed bats. With a 50% hard contact rate to LHP and a season slash of .304/.325/.429 at home Reyes is in play in all formats tonight.

A.J. Pollock (CWS) $3.3K DK/$2.5K FD/$15 Yahoo

A.J. Pollock is a textbook platoon hitter. Over his entire career he has feasted on left-handed pitching and things are no different this season. He comes into tonight’s game against Kris Bubic with a platoon slash of .281/.319/.596 and a .915 OPS. He has a near elite .315 ISO/.373wOBA to go along with 42% hard contact plus has seven home runs on the season in the split compared to just one against right-handers. If Luis Robert is out again, Pollock should be leading off and becomes one of the top values of the slate against a pitcher with 5.10 xFIP that throws over 50% fastballs to right-handed hitters. Oh, by the way Pollock has a team leading .615 ISO/.564wOBA and 60% hard contact rate when fasting the fastball.

Other Top Values:

Andrew Vaughn (CWS) $3.7K DK

Emmanuel Rivera (ARI) $2.8K DK

Javier Báez (DET) $3.9K DK/$2.8K FD * bomb spot against low strikeout SP Marco Gonzales

Luke Voit (WAS) $3.3K DK/$2.9K FD

Ty France (SEA) $2.9K FD/$8 Yahoo
