We are starting our Sunday off with an eight-game slate of MLB action which means there are a lot of options at our disposal. However, there are also some weather concerns in Pittsburgh, Atlanta, and Detroit that potentially require our attention. Let us not waste any more time while digging into some MLB DFS value options for this afternoon. As part of your process, make sure to stay up to date with the latest MLB news, MLB lineups, and MLB weather.

DFS Value Pitchers

Joe Ryan (MIN); DraftKings - $7,400; FanDuel - $8,800; Yahoo - $37

Back to Ryan we go after the right-hander came through earlier in the week with 5.1 innings of two run ball to pick up the victory against Kansas City. Once Ryan allowed a two-run homer in the first inning, he kept the Royals off the scoreboard while striking out six batters on the day and scattering six hits and two walks in total. On the season, Ryan has a solid 3.95 ERA (3.53 xERA) and 1.15 WHIP while striking out roughly a batter per inning. Things have not gone according to plan for Ryan in the second half of the season, so the thinking here is that he can build on Monday’s success against a Texas team that is right at the league average offensively while striking out 23.3% of the time.

Justin Steele (CHC); DraftKings - $7,200; Yahoo - $36

For those of you also following along on the seasonal side of things, Steele should not be a surprise here as a few days ago I advocated that he should not be on your league’s waiver wire. While I do like Steele, I cannot continue to say that based on his FD price ($9,900) as that is far from a value. The wind blowing in at Wrigley Field this afternoon certainly helps, and the Milwaukee lineup, while solid, is not overly imposing. We also should not overlook the success Steele has had this season with a 3.43 ERA (3.24 FIP) while striking out 9.28 batters per nine innings and allowing just 0.59 home runs per nine innings. Also impressive is Steele’s 51% ground ball rate what really catches my attention is the opponents’ barrel rate of just 3.5%.

DFS Value Hitters

Nick Gordon, OF/SS (MIN); DraftKings - $2,000; FanDuel - $2,400; Yahoo - $13

I like the idea of putting together a lineup with a few Twins in it against Kohei Arihara today, and Gordon certainly fits well here. Gordon has hits in four straight games and in 15 games so far in August, he is hitting .333 with six runs scored and eight RBI. The majority of Gordon’s production has come when he has the platoon advantage, which he will tonight; .283 batting average with all five of his home runs and 21 of 23 RBI.

Vinnie Pasquantino, 1B (KC); DraftKings - $2,200; FanDuel - $2,700; Yahoo - $16

This is the version of Pasquantino we expected to see as the first baseman is hitting .354 so far in August with five home runs and 10 RBI in 18 games. While he is starting the game off by facing a southpaw in Ryan Yarbrough, I do not expect to see him for more than four (or maybe five) innings, so Pasquantino will likely get one or two at bats with the platoon advantage as all eight of his home runs and 13 of his 15 RBI have come with the platoon advantage. We should also note though that Pasquantino has a better batting average against left-handers (.323) than right-handers (.259).

Daniel Vogelbach, 1B (NYM); DraftKings - $3,800; FanDuel - $2,600; Yahoo - $14

We have the wind blowing out this afternoon in Philadelphia and it’s a solid matchup for Vogelbach against Kyle Gibson and 1.2 home runs per nine innings that he allows along with a career high 11.5-degree average launch angle by opposing hitters. There is no questioning Vogelbach’s power (15 home runs, 11.2%-barrel rate, and 18.2-degree launch angle) and I like him to make an impact today.

Oswaldo Cabrera, OF/SS (NYY); DraftKings - $2,100; FanDuel - $2,400; Yahoo - $7

Cabrera has certainly made his presence felt following his promotion for a Yankees team desperately in need of a spark. It should be noted though, that the majority of that impact has come on the defensive end as, in four games, he is hitting .200 without any counting stats. At some point, the Yankees have to turn things around, and with the switch hitter batting sixth today, he figures to be a part of it.
