Today’s MLB DFS coverage is for the eight-game main slate that starts at 1:35 pm ET, the same slate on both DraftKings and FanDuel. We do not have Coors Field on the slate, as the Colorado Rockies and New York Mets have a bit of a later start time, so you don’t have to worry about that when setting lineups. Starting pitching is headlined by Gerrit Cole and Yu Darvish. We don’t have any MLB Weather concerns today, which always makes for a more enjoyable experience. Let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day and some we can fit into our cash and tournament lineups!

 

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Jose Berrios, Toronto Blue Jays (DraftKings: $7,600)

Berrios started the year very rough, but he is picking it up lately. He has scored at least 20 DK points in three of his past four outings, despite facing the Rays, Yankees, Braves, and Pirates in that span. He now has a 4.22 ERA on the year with 57 strikeouts across 59.2 innings of work. He should be able to keep the good times rolling today as the Twins are far from an explosive offense. 

Jordan Montgomery, St. Louis Cardinals (DraftKings: $7,300 / FanDuel: $8,500)

Monty has been on the struggle bus lately with three straight lousy starts, but he is due to break out of that slump as he is a far better pitcher than what he has shown lately. The Guardians have been a team to attack with pitching all season as their offense just simply hasn’t produced and I expect this to be a get-right start for Monty.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Edouard Julien, 2B, Minnesota Twins (DraftKings: $2,700 / FanDuel: $2,500)

Julien is 4-for-10 with two home runs, three walks, two doubles, and four runs scored over his last three games, having two games with at least 20 DK points in that span. Jose Berrios is a mid-tier pitcher (I know, I also have him listed, but if not using Berrios, I would consider Julien) and lefties have done the damage against him this season, slashing .290/.325/.491, while righties have produced a .224/.291/.336 slash against him. 

Maikel Garcia, 3B/SS, Kansas City Royals (DraftKings: $2,500 / FanDuel: $2,700)

Garcia has been making frequent appearances in here for me, but he remains cheap and continues to produce. He is hitting .371 over his last ten games with two steals and five doubles. He hasn’t homered yet, but he does have four steals and a .286 average across his first 21 games. He has been incredible against lefties this year, slashing .455/.455/.636 against them through 22 plate appearances and MacKenzie Gore has been struggling a bit lately (12 hits and seven runs in his last ten innings). 

Michael Conforto, San Francisco Giants (DraftKings: $3,500 / FanDuel: $3,300)

Conforto has also been making frequent appearances in here for me, but he also remains cheap and continues to produce at a very high level. He is hitting .333 over his last ten games with three home runs and ten RBI. He now has 11 home runs on the season with 58 total R/RBI across 47 games of action and appears to be back to the player he was with the Mets. Colin Rea is not a good pitcher and has a 4.71 ERA. Conforto is a better value play on DraftKings than he is on FanDuel.

Drew Waters, OF, Kansas City Royals (DraftKings: $2,400 / FanDuel: $2,000)

Another Royals bat, Waters is a player that I am higher on than most. I think he provides a little pop and a little speed, making him kind of a dynamic player for someone so cheap. It’s not a large sample, but in his career he has been far better at home, slashing .283/.367/.491 (60 PA), compared to .196/.268/.431 on the road (57 PA). You can even consider doing a nice little cheap mini-stack as Garcia and Waters have hit back-to-back the last two days.
