Tonight’s Major League Baseball slate features nine games, highlighted by a showdown in Milwaukee featuring Max Scherzer and Corbin Burnes. However, despite the pedigree amongst those two aces, neither of them crack the list of my favorite MLB player props this evening. While some of these guys will likely generate some interest for your MLB DFS lineups, I am going to be targeting their player props tonight, as they are my preferred Underdog Fantasy plays of the day. Pitchers Logan Gilbert and Wade Miley find themselves in good matchups, while Atlanta rookie Michael Harris’ dominance over right-handed pitchers is too much to ignore tonight. Use these three players props to 6x your money, or maybe even add an NFL player prop or two from tonight’s games on Monday Night Football. Here are my favorite MLB player props over on Underdog Fantasy for Monday, September 19.

Underdog Fantasy MLB Player Props September 19

Logan Gilbert OVER 5.5 Strikeouts

This line will likely get to six at some point today, but while it’s at 5.5, I’m far more confident in it. Gilbert has 13 strikeouts in 11.2 innings of work against Los Angeles this season, including six or more strikeouts in each of those starts. Over the last two weeks, the Angels have the fourth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching, coming in at almost 28 percent! On the road in 2022, Gilbert has a 2.95 ERA, and over his last three starts, not only does he have a 0.53 ERA, but he has a 12.2 K/9, 36 percent O-Swing rate, and 12.0 swinging strike rate. He’s upped the usage in his slider, while dropping the usage on his curveball, so, is this something to watch, or just a coincidence? Well, the switch in repertoire has seen his slider and curveball both post their best whiff rates in a month so far this season.

Michael Harris OVER 6.5 Fantasy Points

Do you ever look at numbers and overthink it to an almost unhealthy level? If you’re doing that with Harris today, I’m telling you to not overthink things. Washington’s Cory Abbot has a 6.23 ERA on the road this season, he has a 5.19 ERA as a starter, and left-handed hitters have an .863 OPS and .375 wOBA against him this season. On the other hand, Harris has a .345 batting average over his last 15 games, and specifically against right-handed pitching this year, Harris has a .327 batting average and .981 OPS. Based on Underdog’s scoring settings, a single, run scored, and one RBI gives us the over, and with Atlanta getting to Abbot in this one, I love the over for Harris this evening.

Wade Miley OVER 3.5 Strikeouts

The Marlins are bad against lefties, there’s just no other way to put it. I wish I could put in more elaborate terms, but simply put, they stink against southpaws. While the Marlins have hit lefties well over the last two weeks, I’m not sure I’m buying this level of success, given that for the majority of the year, they have been putrid against southpaws. There are plenty of strikeouts to be had against Miami, and since returning to the mound, Miley has been solid for Chicago, posting a 3.00 ERA over nine innings of work with five or more strikeouts in both starts. Miley may not be the prolific swing and miss guy in the bigs, but the Marlins have been one of the worst teams against southpaws, especially in terms of strikeout rate, for the majority of the 2022 season.
