While MLB trade rumors are swirling leading up to the 2022 MLB Trade Deadline, it's time to turn our attention to Underdog Fantasy for tonight’s Major League Baseball action. I have uncovered my favorite MLB player props ahead of Thursday night's daily fantasy baseball slate. The Detroit Tigers will likely start moving some pieces before the trade deadline, but free agent acquisition Javier Báez has been a menace to southpaws this year and is a top MLB daily pick. Zack Wheeler hasn’t been his typical self in the strikeout department of late, but I feel like his line is a bit mis-priced coming off some tougher matchups. Meanwhile, Kris Bryant will continue his prowess against left-handed pitchers and it’s hard to ignore his BvP numbers this evening. Be sure to check out our weather center as there could be some MLB weather report issues in Colorado at Coors Field and across the league. Plus, keep an eye on MLB starting lineups, our MLB daily projections, and the rest of MLB DFS lineup tools before locking in your props and bets. Now, here are my favorite MLB player props over at Underdog Fantasy for Thursday, July 28th.

MLB Player Props Underdog Fantasy July 27

Javier BáezOVER 1.5 Total Bases

Baez against lefties has been tried and true this season. He’s sporting a .346 batting average against southpaws in 2022, not to mention a .396 wOBA. Baez is also hitting .292 over his last seven games and getting him out of his home park has been good for him this year, as his .767 OPS on the road blows his home mark out of the water. Yusei Kikuchi is starting for the first time in a handful of weeks for Toronto, and he’s served up an even .400 wOBA to right-handed hitters in 2022 – as well as a 4.54 ERA at home. Baez on the road against a lefty is a favorite of mine, but when you add in the fact that the opposing pitcher struggles with righties – I love it even more.

Zack WheelerOVER 6.5 Strikeouts

I know Wheeler hasn’t had the most gaudy strikeout totals of late, but to be fair, he hasn’t been facing strikeout-prone teams outside of his start against the Cubs. He should have carved up the Cubs for more than just six strikeouts, but his other starts this month have come against the Cardinals and Blue Jays, who rank 15th and 28th, respectively, in strikeout rate this month. Pittsburgh is Wheeler's most advantageous matchup yet this month. The Pirates have the third-highest strikeout rate in July, and it’s over 2.5 percentage points higher than where the Cubs sit. For what it’s worth, in four career starts against Pittsburgh, Wheeler has a 2.22 ERA with a 9.6 K/9. This line seems to be slightly off due to some recent tougher matchups for the Philadelphia Phillies right-hander.

Kris BryantOVER 1.5 Total Bases

Simply put, the only thing that can slow down Bryant tonight is the weather, as there is a chance for delay/postponement. Kris Bryant is 9-for-24 with four home runs in his career against Tyler Anderson, good for a .375 average and .538 wOBA. Anderson has been good this year for the Dodgers, but he did allow four earned runs on 10 hits in his most recent start at Coors Field (6/27). Taking the over here is more of a vote of confidence in Bryant, more than a knock against Anderson. Bryant is hitting .345 with a .552 slugging percentage over his last seven games, and he’s hitting .322 at home this season. Furthermore, he has destroyed southpaws in 2022, posting a .345 batting average and 1.018 OPS. In 22 home games this year, he’s hit safely in 17 of them, and he has at least two total bases in nearly half of them.
