MLB Underdog Fantasy Top Picks for April 23

Brayan Bello, Boston Red Sox – Under 4.5 strikeouts

If you checked out my write-up for the MLB Best Bets and Betting Picks, you’ll see I am very much in on the Milwaukee Brewers today. Bello is just starting to get his feet wet and was decimated in his last outing after just 2.2 innings. The Brewers have been strong at home and they aren’t huge strikeout victims against right-handed pitching. Bello did hit the over in his debut against the Angels, but not only do the Brewers strike out less often, but they are also substantially better at the plate. I see the Brew Crew chasing him a little early today as well and with that early exit comes him just missing this prop today.

Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Angels – Over 0.5 runs

I’ll be backing the Angels today over the hapless Kansas City Royals and with righty Jordan Lyles on the mound, I’m going to take the lefty-swinging Ohtani for some runs-scored action today. He’s a career .272 hitter against righthanded pitching and nine of his 12 runs scored this season have come against them. He’s also drawn eight walks against righties, so we’re not too concerned with him getting on-base. He just needs someone to drive him home and while the Angels haven’t been an offensive juggernaut this season yet, Lyles on the mound should certainly help us out here.
