Julio Rodriguez MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

The recent overall production for the Mariners doesn’t look too pretty, but perhaps Orioles lefty Cade Povich is the cure for what ails them. They’ve actually been fine against southpaws, posting a .314 wOBA, which is 12th-best in the majors, but more importantly, it’s about the individual match-ups, and we’re going to side with JRod for this one. His season has been a struggle thus far, but he’s hit safely in four-straight and has a .336 wOBA with a .262 ISO over 71 plate appearances against lefties. Povich is allowing righthanded hitters to post a .360 wOBA against him, and 14 of the 19 extra-base hits he’s allowed have come from righties. We’ll lock this one in to start.

Jonathan Aranda MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

Have you seen Kumar Rocker’s splits against lefthanded hitters? He was fine in the minors last year, but so far this season, in the minors, lefties were slashing .33/.361/.509, and in the majors, they’ve posted a .477 wOBA with a .659 slugging percentage. We’ll turn to one of our favorite and most underrated lefthanded hitters on Tampa in Aranda, who has hit safely in eight of his last nine games, and has cleared this 1.5-HRR mark in six of them. The .418 wOBA against right-handers gives us even more confidence in the pick.

Griffin Canning MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed

After weeks of solid yet head-scratching performances, Canning is finally starting to reveal his true colors. He started allowing more home runs during a stretch against the Yankees, Cubs and Diamondbacks and was then saved by a lengthy rain delay two weeks ago against the Dodgers. He had walked four and allowed three earned runs before calling it a night after just 2.2 innings, but then got beaten up by the White Sox in his next outing, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and another four walks over just three frames. Now he’s back facing the Dodgers again? The team with the highest wOBA against righties? Yeah, he’s going to give up some runs, for sure.
