Freddy Peralta MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 5.5 Strikeouts 

Freddy Peralta hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations in his first season with the New York Mets. The right-hander has a 3.90 ERA across 15 starts thus far. His 22.7% strikeout rate is also a career-low mark. Even so, we’re backing Peralta to rack up some K’s in today’s matchup. 

The Philadelphia Phillies have been strikeout-prone all season, especially against right-handed pitching. In the split, the lineup has a 23.5% strikeout rate, which is the 4th-highest in the majors this year. Over the past two weeks, the Phillies have had a league-worst 29.0% K rate vs. righties.  

It’s a matchup to target for opposing pitchers, so we’ll gladly do it with Peralta. On the bright side, the Mets’ starter owns a 2.79 ERA across 5 road starts this season. He also has five or more strikeouts in 11-of-15 starts, so he’s hovering right around this line more often than not. Plus, the Philly hitters are collectively batting .155 against him. 

 

Miguel Rojas MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI

It’s been a shaky season for Trevor Rogers. The left-hander has a 5.86 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 13 starts for the Baltimore Orioles thus far. Now he has to face the potent Los Angeles Dodgers lineup on the road. Yikes! 

There’s a decent chance Rogers allows 4-to-5 runs in this game, at least. Let’s lean into that narrative with a certain Dodgers player to produce. Miguel Rojas has multiple splits in his favor tonight, and he’s an under-the-radar hitter to target. 

The veteran shortstop is crushing left-handed pitching to the tune of a .306 batting average and .845 OPS this season. Rojas is also hitting .345 with an .873 OPS at home. He should be in the lineup today as he usually starts against southpaws. Rogers, meanwhile, is allowing a .299 average and .834 OPS to right-handed batters this year.
