What are the Best Underdog MLB Pick'em Picks Today?

Today’s two best Underdog Fantasy MLB Pick'em plays are Cam Schlittler over 7.5 strikeouts and Bryce Miller over 2.5 earned runs allowed. Both props are supported by matchup data, current streaks, and favorable line construction heading into an action-packed day of baseball. Read below for the complete analysis on each.

Cam Schlittler OVER 7.5 Strikeouts

Schlittler on the road? Sign me up! He has a 1.14 ERA and 31.7 K% on the road this season, and has simply been dominant away from Yankee Stadium. It cannot be overstated how dominant he’s been on the road. The next closest to him on the “road leaderboard” is Shohei Ohtani at 1.48, but he’s made half of his starts away from home as Schlittler has.

Now, let’s look at the matchup. Schlittler takes on an Angels team that has a 25.1% strikeout rate on the year against RHP, which is the second-highest mark in the league. Since the All-Star break in mid-July, Los Angeles’ strikeout rate is up to 26.1%, which also comes in as the second-worst in the league.

There’s been a slight uptick in his curveball usage since the All-Star break, and with a 17.2 SwStr%, I’m not surprised he’s leaning into that pitch a bit more as a putaway option, seeing as nearly 35 percent of the plate appearances that ended with a curveball resulted in a strikeout.

Bryce Miller OVER 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed

Since the All-Star break, Bryce Miller has the second-highest ERA in Major League Baseball (7.18) amongst starting pitchers with at least 30 IP. It’s been a very, very rough go for Miller, who also boasts the fifth-worst HR/9 (2.23) and 13th-lowest K-BB% (6.8%). Miller’s ERA is pushing 5 on the road this season, and his issues with left-handed hitters (.451 SLG) could be problematic against a Boston lineup that has been solid against RHP of late, and could also feature as many as six left-handed hitters.

Since the All-Star break, the Red Sox have the second-highest batting average (.269) and OPS against RHP (.793). The numbers have slipped a little bit over the last two weeks, but Boston still has a top-10 SLG (.395) and ISO (.155) against righties.

Miller has allowed at least three earned runs in four straight starts, and if you look at just his road starts, his streak of three or more earned runs sits at five straight outings.
