Chase Burns Sleeper Fantasy MLB Pick: More Than 6.5 Strikeouts (2.10x)

Were you guys watching what I was watching when Chase Burns stepped onto a major league mound for the first time this year? Holy cow, he was incredible. He struck out the first five batters he faced and recorded his first six outs by strikeout. He finished with eight over five innings and now faces a struggling Boston Red Sox lineup. Over the last four weeks against right-handed pitchers, they’ve struck out over 25% of the time and have the fourth-lowest OPS in baseball. Burns had a 14.4 K/9 and a 38.1% K in his first start, along with an 11.1% SwStr. Burns only threw 81 pitches in his debut, but look for that to be extended a bit as he gets more comfortable in the big leagues.


 

 

 

Trevor Rogers Sleeper Fantasy MLB Pick: More Than 16.5 Outs (1.86x)

For what it’s worth, Trevor Rogers has looked pretty solid at the major league level this season. In two of his three starts, he’s thrown at least six innings, and today, he faces a pretty bad Texas Rangers offense. The Rangers are 28th in OPS and wOBA, 27th in ISO, and have a 24.4% K-rate against left-handed pitching this year. I like Rogers to pitch deep into a game against a Rangers lineup missing Wyatt Langford, Jake Burger, and some of its other best hitters hitting from the left side.
