Get excited for another glorious Saturday filled with baseball! There is baseball happening all throughout the day today, but we are focused on the 8-game slate kicking off at 4:05 PM EST on both DraftKings and FanDuel. A much different slate than yesterday. Yesterday we had 13 games and a ton of great pitchers on the mound. Today Cristian Javier highlights the slate on the mound but then the pitching drops down in quality quickly. There are some great young arms to take a chance on today, though, that could provide great value. On the offensive side, there are some great offenses to target, with some lower-end pitchers on the mound. No Coors game on the slate, but we do get Great American Ballpark with the Milwaukee Brewers facing the Cincinnati Reds which should get almost as much attention as any game happening in Coors, in my opinion. Should be a great day of baseball, so let’s dive into the playbook to help you cash today, whether you are playing cash games or gpp tournaments. MLB Weather Updates

After a rough day of weather yesterday, today doesn’t look to have any concerns for this slate. The only game with any chance of weather is the Oakland Athletics vs Miami Marlins and they have a rough, so don’t have to worry!

DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Without the overwhelming number of pitchers to choose from like there were yesterday, it should be a little easier to choose a path to take. I have two clear favorites today, which are highlighted below. There are others I could understand wanting to go for, including the top guy in Cristian Javier, but I think there is a great chance to save some money on the pitching side today to pay up for hitters. Speaking of hitters, my favorite game to target today is easily the Milwaukee Brewers facing the Cincinnati Reds. Both Colin Rea and Graham Ashcraft have been far from great and the ball flies at Great American Ballpark. Other offenses I like today include the Kansas City Royals, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Texas Rangers

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Eury Perez, Miami Marlins

The 20-year-old Eury Perez still has some growth but for only being 20, he has been handling the major leagues quite well. He went 5 innings without giving up a run against the Angels in his last outing despite only having 3 strikeouts and giving up 4 walks. The stuff is amazing and as his control and confidence improve, he looks like he is going to be an amazing pitcher. Getting to face the Oakland Athletics today should be a chance for him to shine. The strikeouts should return, and he should have no problem shutting down this Athletics team at home.

Luis Medina, Oakland Athletics

I am taking a chance on the other side of the Miami Marlins vs Oakland Athletics game today as well. Luis Medina has not had the best results in his first 5 outings this year, with the long ball being his main issue. He has given up 10 home runs in his first 5 outings. He has a 6.83 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP which are not good, but given they are with a 3.25 HR/9, they aren’t that bad. Facing the Miami Marlins in Miami should give him a great opportunity to limit the long ball and put up a good outing, with Miami not being a strong offense and the ballpark being a quality pitchers' park, especially with limiting home runs. As almost the cheapest pitcher on the slate, he doesn’t have to do a lot to return his value and, hopefully, can put together a quality start with some good strikeouts and get the win for the Marlins.

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Brendan Donovan, 1B/OF St. Louis Cardinals

Brendan Donovan continued his strong stretch yesterday with another home run. His OPS over the last 10 games is at 1.081 and he has hit 3 home runs over that stretch. On top of that, he has been back in the leadoff spot for the last two games, which is a big boost for him with a very strong top-of-the-lineup in St. Louis. He should remain in that spot today, getting to face Luis Ortiz, which continues to make him a great option right now at his price.

Owen Miler, 2B/3B Milwaukee Brewers

Owen Miller continues to hit the ball well for Milwaukee, still hitting .331 on the year. He is on a small 5-game hitting streak right now with 8 hits in that stretch, although only had one extra-base hit. Getting to face Graham Ashcraft gives a good opportunity for him to tap into some power though getting to hit in the best home run park in the league. Ashcraft has also been struggling as of late with an 11.28 ERA, including a 2.42 HR/9 over his last 5 starts.

Rodolfo Castro, 2B/SS Pittsburgh Pirates

You should know the drill by now. Rodolfo Castro is facing a lefty, so you should heavily consider getting him into your lineup. He is still holding a 1.147 OPS against left-handed pitching, which is 5th highest in the league. You are getting the 5th best hitter against left-handers this season at such a ridiculously low price it almost seems foolish not to put him in your lineup when he gets these opportunities.

Christian Yelich, OF Milwaukee Brewers

Christian Yelich sure isn’t an MVP-caliber hitter anymore, but he continues to be a very solid hitter against right-handed pitching. He is slashing .271/.375/.444 against right-handers this season. As I already stated, facing Graham Ashcraft in Cincinnati should be a fantastic opportunity for him to have a big game and hopefully put one in the stands. He also already has 12 stolen bases on the year, so he definitely provides power and speed potential as well and there is a good chance we get to see both be tapped into today.
