Guardians vs White Sox - There are 10 MPH winds blowing out and the weather is in the mid-70s. Really good hitting weather.
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers
MLB DFS Top Pitchers
Tyler Glasnow (LAD)
Analysis: This is a great spot for Glasnow and he's the highest ceiling pitcher on the slate. He's struck out 10+ batters in two straight starts and faces a Braves offense that has posted a 98 wRC+ vs. RHP after the All-Star break. They struck out 22.3% of the time over that span.
Max Fried (NYY)
Analysis: Fried has pitched really well this year in between all of his elbow issues and has allowed 1 ER or fewer in all but one of his last nine starts. That's dating back to August 1st. Now, the one bad start did come against the Rays for what that's worth, but Fried is a comfortable roster.
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Tyler Mahle (ATL)
Analysis: It's scary to use a pitcher against the Dodgers, but Mahle has essentially been matchup proof since arriving in Atlanta. In his 10 starts with the Braves, including the playoffs, Mahle has pitched to a 1.91 ERA, .217 BAA, .96 WHIP, and has averaged 20 DKP/game. He's a solid value because the options are limited and he's the best pitcher in this range.
Nick Martinez (TB)
Analysis: Las Vegas hates Nick Martinez today and don't expect him to be in this game for too long, but the Yankees offense has given us no reason to think they can get any starting pitcher out of there quickly, at least in this series. Martinez doesn't have the highest ceiling, but before his final start of the year, he had double-digit fantasy points in six straight and eight of nine.
Top Options For Strikeouts
K-prop lines and value ratings are incorporated below for DFS and prop context. These are the arms building the highest strikeout ceilings on the 10-game slate.
Our model identifies these arms as the highest-ceiling plays for Alt-K lines today:
Tyler Glasnow: 34% K% (11.9 K/9)
Max Fried: 24% K% (8.3 K/9)
Tyler Mahle: 22.3% K% (8.3 K/9)
Best Odds For A Win
The following MLB DFS picks offer a combination of favorable win odds, sustainable ERA and xFIP metrics, and soft opponent matchups. Each carries K-prop lines worth noting alongside their DFS value at reduced ownership relative to the top tier.
- Tyler Glasnow +156
- Max Fried +200
- Tyler Mahle +514
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Stacks & Hitters
MLB DFS Top Hitters
Ben Rice (C/1B, NYY)
Analysis: There hasn't been a higher upside player this postseason. Ben Rice has been the top of the food chain. He has two multi-homer games in four contests along with eight RBI and has been on base 10 times in those four games. Rice dominates right-handed pitchers.
Jackson Chourio (OF, MIL), William Contreras (C, MIL) & Jake Bauers (1B, MIL)
Analysis: It's been a reverse split season for Walker Buehler and that's why two of these guys I'm suggesting are right-handed in Chourio and Contreras. Chourio is going to leadoff and has an insane ceiling and Contreras has homered in two of his last three and has great underlying numbers vs. RHP (.189 ISO, .342 wOBA). Bauers was moved up to the two-hole and rakes against righties.
Miguel Vargas (3B, CWS) & Munetaka Murakami (1B, CWS)
Analysis: The White Sox offense is in an interesting spot here because Daniel Espino is opening this game and all hands are on deck after him. The winds are blowing out and these two are monster bats that could leave any yard across major league baseball.
Freddie Freeman (1B, LAD) & Kyle Tucker (OF, LAD)
Analysis: There has been a little bit of a power issue that Tyler Mahle has had against lefties over the last 30 days. It's a small sample (143 pitches) but lefties have had a .314 ISO and .231 xISO against him. That's where Freeman and Tucker come in, and to some extent, Shohei Ohtani as well.
Jose Ramirez (3B, CLE)
Analysis: This is a very appealing spot for the Guardians, but the White Sox have approached this postseason in a very different way. Ramirez's first at-bat will come against a lefty (.182 ISO, .354 wOBA) and then Davis Martin is likely next and Martin has allowed a .152 xISO and .344 xwOBA to LHH.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Jo Adell, Angel Martinez & Chase DeLauter (OF, CLE)
Analysis: They're all different because Adell rakes against lefties, which works best against the opener, Martinez is a switch-hitter and can be deployed against both, and DeLauter mashes righties and hits in the heart of their order.
Kyle Teel (C, CWS) & Andrew Benintendi (OF, CWS)
Analysis: Teel won't be pinch hit for but Benintendi is a riskier proposition here. Teel will slot in second in the White Sox order while Benintendi crushes righties but won't be in against lefties. He has a .191 ISO and 15 HR vs. RHP this year.
Spencer Jones (OF, NYY) & George Lombard (SS, NYY)
Analysis: These two have BIG ceilings in Yankee Stadium at such cheap price tags. Lombard plays a premium position because there aren't many good options.
Jonny DeLuca (OF, TB) & Ryan Vilade (1B/OF, TB)
Analysis: Cheap Rays that make things happen all the time. DeLuca can steal bags and hit some home runs to boot and Vilade has hit lefties well this year (.205 ISO, .352 wOBA).
