Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Playbook for Wednesday, May 7th!

We have a bunch of early games to enjoy today, but the playbook is dialed in on this evening’s 7-game main slate on DraftKings starting at 7:05 PM ET and an 8-game main slate on FanDuel that starts a little earlier at 6:45 PM ET which includes the Texas Rangers vs. Boston Red Sox game. Our expert analysis is here to guide you through the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.

Whether chasing big GPP prizes or grinding cash games, we’ve got you covered with insights tailored to today’s matchups. Let’s jump right into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!

This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.

The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.

The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.

The stacks section will bring you our favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

Tune in to the daily MLB DFS Show at 5 PM ET to get some last-minute advice and answer your questions before the slate begins!

MLB DFS Picks & MLB Playbook

MLB Weather: Wednesday, 5/7

Cincinnati Reds vs. Atlanta Braves

  • Some light rain today, but it doesn’t look like it should affect the game.

Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals

  • A little more rain than the CIN vs. ATL game, but it also doesn’t look to be enough to cause a postponement yet. Keep a close eye, though.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers

We have some great top-end starters today, highlighted by Hunter Greene at the very top, but some interesting options all down the slate. Some honorable mentions for me today, outside of my core plays, are Shane Baz, Michael Wacha, and Grant Holmes

Let's get into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds

Hunter Greene continues to absolutely dominate. His only hiccup this season came in his start in Baltimore, but he has bounced back well and is coming off a season-high 12-strikeout game against the Washington Nationals. The Atlanta Braves haven’t been good enough to scare me away from starting Hunter Greene still as the top-priced pitcher on the slate.

Max Fried, New York Yankees

Max Fried, while a clear number 2 on today’s slate behind Hunter Greene, I think he is the clear number 2, and I am even willing to potentially pay up for both of these top guys on today’s slate. Max Fried has pitched like an ace so far this season. He has a few lower strikeout games, but has still had great results in those starts. He is coming off of 7 scoreless innings against the Rays, where he allowed only 1 hit and struck out 6. The Padres have a tough offense, but Fried should be able to shut them down in New York today.

Cristopher Sanchez, Philadelphia Phillies

Cristopher Sanchez is way too cheap today. The only thing that worries me with Sanchez is that forearm injury that could come back and end his season at any moment, but he bounced back with another solid outing against the Nationals in his last outing. Tampa isn’t a fun place to pitch, but I really believe in the changes that Cristopher Sanchez has made, and his increased strikeout rate looks legit, and I am going to trust his stuff to provide great value in this start against the Rays.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Vladimir Guerrero, 1B Toronto Blue Jays

Vladimir Guerrero has been continuing to crush the ball this year. He has hits in 9 of his last 10 games, including an active 8-game hitting streak. He has 3 homers over that stretch, and he should probably be priced right up with the top first basemen. Yusei Kikuchi has been struggling this year, and I don’t trust him right now; Vlad should be able to keep crushing the ball against him today.

Royce Lewis, 3B Minnesota Twins

Royce Leiws is back! He went 0-4 in his first start, but we know that when healthy, Royce Lewis has the ability to be one of the best hitters in all of baseball. I am ready to jump in now while his price is still reasonably low. He faces Charlie Morton today, who has been one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball to start the year. The Twins should be able to continue to do damage against him today.

Carlos Correa, SS Minnesota Twins

I'm going to continue to stack against Charlie Morton at shortstop today as well. Carlos Correa has quietly started to start hitting. He has 6 multi-hit games over his last 10 and even got himself a homer yesterday. While I wouldn’t count on the power to continue, the consistent hitting should continue, especially against Charlie Morton

Kerry Carpenter, OF Detroit Tigers

I don’t mind going for a bit of a Coors stack today with the Tigers, but even if you don’t want to commit to a full stack, I really like Kerry Carpenter at this price. Kerry already has 8 homers this season and even just had a 4-hit game. His power is legitimate, and in Coors, I am absolutely going to pay this price to get a hitter of his caliber in my lineup since he should be getting the start against the righty.
