Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Playbook for Tuesday, August 12th!

Happy Tuesday! We have a huge slate for us in store this evening with a 12-game main slate starting at 7:05 PM ET on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Only 3 games not making it on today’s slate means we don’t get George Kirby or Ranger Suarez as options on the mound, but with 12 games, we have endless other choices, along with it being an always beloved Paul Skenes day. Lots of baseball is in store, and our expert analysis is here to guide you through the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.

Whether chasing big GPP prizes or grinding cash games, we’ve got you covered with insights tailored to today’s matchups. Let’s jump right into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!

This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.

The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.

The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.

The stacks section will bring you are favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

Tune into the MLB DFS Livestream at 5 PM ET to watch us break down today’s slate, give you last-minute advice, and answer any questions before locking in those lineups!

Make sure you subscribe to the Fantasy Alarm YouTube channel so you never miss a show! Also, join the Fantasy Alarm Discord to get your DFS lineup questions answered by our MLB DFS team! Plus, as always, be sure to check in with our MLB DFS Tools, with the Daily MLB Projections, MLB DFS Rostership Projections, and our MLB DFS Lineup Generator when building those lineups today to help you decide which players you should be targeting.

MLB Weather: Tuesday, 8/12

It appears that this game will be postponed or delayed. I would try to avoid it.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers

Let's get into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Paul Skenes, Pittsburgh Pirates

It is Paul Skenes, don’t overthink it too much. Sure, there are other options that are pretty good today that don’t cost $11K, but they aren’t Paul Skenes. Even against a good Milwaukee team, you will still probably get 7+ strikeouts and a great line, and he can easily return value today even with this high price tag.

Robbie Ray, San Francisco Giants

I think Robbie Ray is probably the most likely pitcher on today’s slate to get more strikeouts than Paul Skenes (though I am guessing nobody does). Ray had 8 strikeouts in his last outing against Pittsburgh. Now the San Diego Padres are a much better offense than the Pirates, and they don’t strikeout a ton against lefties, but Robbie can still shut them down and provide a great line in this matchup.

Michael Wacha, Kansas City Royals

I had Michael Wacha in the playbook as a cheaper option for his last outing and it wasn’t bad. He had a quality start with 2 earned runs in 6 innings and got the win against the Red Sox. He did only strikeout 3, but today he gets to face the lefty-heavy National team, which he should be able to shut down with his changeup and get plenty more whiffs today.

Jacob Lopez, Athletics

Jacob Lopez had an absolute gem in his last outing against the Nationals. He put up 7.2 scoreless innings, giving up only 3 hits, 0 walks, and striking out a career-high 10 batters. Now I am not expecting him to repeat that performance today, but I do think he can still put up another great outing against the Rays and is one of the better value options on today’s slate.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Vladimir Guerrero, 1B Toronto Blue Jays

Over his last 20 games, Vlad is slashing .373/.447/.699 with 6 homers, 9 doubles, and 10 multi-hit games. He has been absolutely crushing the ball and leading the charge with this great Blue Jays team. Ben Brown has his work cut out for him today, and I don’t think he will have an answer for how to slow down Vlad.

Ernie Clement, 2B/3B Toronto Blue Jays

Sticking with the Blue Jays for my next pick. Sure his last 20 games aren’t quite Vlad numbers but it is still a .310/.322/.529 slash line with 4 homers, 2 triples, 3 doubles, and 8 multi-hit games. Considering he is $1,600 less than Vlad, those are still some pretty great numbers and are a great value play to put up alongside Vlad.

Carlos Correa, SS Houston Astros

Carlos Correa has been a monster since going back to Houston. He went hitless in his first game with them, but since then, it has been like he never left the Astros. He now has hits in 9 straight games with 6 multi-hit games and 2 homers. Dustin May did not look good in his first outing for Boston, and I am not expecting him to be a ton better today, and think Carlos can continue to put on a show for the Astros crowd.

Roman Anthony, OF Boston Red Sox

Roman Anthony has been nothing short of incredible since joining the majors. I think it is going a little undernoticed because it hasn’t been a lot of power (although he did hit a big homer against Houston yesterday). Still, despite only 3 homers, he has an almost .400 OBP and a ton of doubles, and every at-bat looks amazing. I think we are going to start seeing more power from him soon, and I will continue to turn to him while he is priced this low.
