Published: Sep 06, 2025
Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Playbook for Sunday, September 7th!Â
Let’s start the week on the right foot with some winning lineups today. We have a 10-game main slate in store for us this evening on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 1:35 PM ET. Today, we have plenty of talent on the diamond and many different ways to build your lineup. Our expert analysis is here to guide you through the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.
Whether chasing big GPP prizes or grinding cash games, we’ve got you covered with insights tailored to today’s matchups. Let’s jump right into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!
This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.
The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.
The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.
The stacks section will bring you are favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers
Let's get into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups
Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Framber Valdez, Houston Astros
This start was originally supposed to go to Luis Garcia, but the Astros are moving Framber Valdez up and it's a good spot for him. Texas continues to be a subpar offensive unit against both splits, even after showing some improvement. Valdez has dismantled Texas this year and despite recent struggles, this is a get right spot for him.
Sonny Gray, St. Louis Cardinals
Despite the fact that the Giants offense is hot right now, they have a lot of strikeout in their lineup and this is a tough ballpark to hit in. Gray's been hit or miss for a lot of the year but a lot of it has to do with the luck that he's not getting. He's been much better in his home ballpark than on the road, too.
Brandon Sproat, New York Mets
Everything has gone wrong for the Reds offense lately and they're striking out a lot more than they were earlier in the year. They have a 25% K-rate in the last month against righties, along with their bottom-10 rankings in OPS, wOBA, and wRC+. Sproat is making his debut here and gets a boatload of groundballs and doesn't allow home runs.
Kai-Wei Teng, San Francisco Giants
The Cardinals offense has been an abomination and I like Teng in tournaments because of it. He has a 7.23 ERA but a 3.72 xERA, which is a MASSIVE discrepancy. The Cardinals rank 27th or worse in OPS, wOBA, ISO, and wRC+ against right-handed pitching over the last month while striking out 25% of the time. Teng had a 14 K/9 in the minors this year and is over 9.4 this year at the major league level.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters
Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.
Core MLB DFS Hitters
Coors (FanDuel only)
This is a FanDuel only spot as DraftKings does not have this game on the main slate. Dylan Cease takes the mound for the Padres while Tanner Gordon is throwing for the Rockies.
Cease's numbers this year;
vs. LH - .167 ISO, .185 xISO, .319 wOBA, .316 xwOBA
vs. RH - .172 ISO, .140 xISO, .314 wOBA, .283 xwOBA
Mickey Moniak, Hunter Goodman, and Ezequiel Tovar are the three priorities from Colorado. Two of which have .200+ ISOs and Tovar's right at .180.
Here's Gordon's numbers, too;
vs. LH - .176 ISO, .233 xISO, .335 wOBA, .370 xwOBA
vs. RH - .168 ISO, .134 xISO, .399 wOBA, .358 xwOBA
I'd play basically anyone in the Padres lineups, but the lefties look better. Ryan O'Hearn, Jake Cronenworth, Jackson Merrill, and Luis Arraez. From the right side, Fernando Tatis, Manny Machado, and Ryan Laureano.
Phillies in Great Spot
This is a brutal spot for Adam Mazur to be in because of how good the Phillies offense has been. They're top three in OPS, ISO, wOBA, and wRC+ since the All-Star break against right-handed pitching.
Mazur has been a pretty bad major league pitcher through his first three outings this year and was the same through eight outings last year. Lefties and righties both give him issues. Here are the top Phillies plays of the day;
- Kyle Schwarber - .315 ISO, .332 xISO, .386 wOBA, .420 xwOBA
- Trea Turner - .155 ISO, .139 xISO, .347 wOBA, .324 xwOBA
- Bryce Harper - .250 ISO, .256 xISO, .374 wOBA, .391 xwOBA
- Brandon Marsh - .169 ISO, .193 xISO, .353 wOBA, .361 xwOBA
- Harrison Bader - .192 ISO, .175 xISO, .371 wOBA, .334 xwOBA
- Max Kepler - .180 ISO, .208 xISO, .308 wOBA, .357 xwOBA
Will Dodgers Finally Break Out?
The Dodgers continue to lose, but this could be a spot where the offense hits it stride. Tomoyuki Sugano takes the mound for the Baltimore and he allows home runs. Lefties have a .218 ISO and .254 xISO against him. Righties have an xISO of .185, so that could show it's ugly head too.
Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman are the lefties to prioritize. Teoscar Hernandez, Mookie Betts, and Andy Pages round out the five-man stack.
Royals Offense to Take Ober Here
The Royals draw a matchup against Bailey Ober here and despite the fact Bobby Witt may not play, that didn't hurt them on Saturday when they hung 11 on Joe Ryan and company.
Ober has not been good pre or post injury and he has to face a Royals offense ranking in the top-eight in baseball in OPS, ISO, wOBA, and wRC+ against right-handed pitching. They also only strike out 16% of the time, which is criminally low.
The power Ober has allowed is where my interest truly lies. Lefties have a .239 ISO and .212 xISO while righties have a .235 ISO and .234 xISO.
If Witt plays, he, Vinnie Pasquantino, Salvador Perez, and Mike Yastrzemski is where I'd start. Maikel Garcia, Jac Caglianone, and Adam Frazier is where I'd go next. Michael Massey has also been FINE since being back in the bigs.
Yankees are LIVE for Home Runs
This is as straight forward as it gets. The Yankees face off against Max Scherzer and Scherzer is a pitcher, at his current age, that allows home runs. He's been a pleasant surprise for Toronto, but he allows home runs. He's at 1.93 HR/9 for the year, and against lefties, it's 2.35. The Yankees have a lot of lefties. They also lead major league baseball in home runs by a WIDE margin.
Trent Grisham, Jazz Chisholm, Cody Bellinger, Ben Rice, and Austin Wells are all options from the left side. Those two dudes the Yankees have from the right side aren't bad either. I think they're names are something like..Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton? Might've gotten that one wrong though.Â
Astros Draw Corbin
After pitching to a 7.17 ERA in August, it's up to 7.94 in September through his first turn in the rotation. In general, he's been horrible since the All-Star break, and the Astros should be able to take advantage of that with all of the righties they have.
Jeremy Pena, Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Christian Walker, and Jake Meyers – who's off the IL – are the righties we're looking to.
Yordan Alvarez is just too cheap for how good he's been.
