💎 PITCHING COACH

Top Tier

Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD) | vs SF

Yamamoto has 7 or more strikeouts in three of his last four starts, he has been giving up more runs lately but still hasn’t given up more than 3 runs all season with only one game not resulting in a quality start when he only made it 5 innings against the Marlins and struggled a bit with control. He is the best pitcher on the slate and has a good matchup, don’t shy away from paying up for Yamamoto today.

Bryan Woo (SEA) | vs HOU

After getting roughed up a bit in two consecutive starts, Bryan Woo bounced back in a huge way. He struck out 9 batters through 6 scoreless innings giving up only 1 hit against a dominant Atlanta Braves lineup. Getting to face Houston today he should be able to keep the momentum from this last outing.

Freddy Peralta (NYM) | vs DET

I am willing to pretty much ignore the one strikeout in his last outing because it was in Colorado. He is still Freddy Peralta, he is going to walk too many guys, but he is still going to get plenty of strikeouts. There is less floor than someone like Yamamoto, but he still has huge upside.

Value Plays

MacKenzie Gore (TEX) | vs ARI

Another pitcher who walks too many batters but is even less consistent than Peralta. We know the strikeout stuff is great if he is pitching well but he will most likely give up some runs as well. The floor is scary, but if you are looking for a place for strikeouts away from the top arms Gore is a good place to find them.

Eury Perez (MIA) | vs MIN

We are just drowning in pitchers with good stuff who walk too many batters today. Eury walked 5 batters in his last outing. If he can just throw some more fastballs and stay in the zone, he should be fine and will still get you at least 6 strikeouts most likely. He would be higher if he was doing a better job of pitching past the 5th inning.

💎 HITTING COACH

Elite Bats

Munetaka Murakami (1B, CWS) vs KCR

We have wind blowing out in this game that could produce a lot of homers so I am going to take the bet that Murakami can get one up in the air and out of the park today in this matchup.

Brice Turang (2B, MIL) vs SD

Matt Waldron survived against the Giants in his last outing but that was in a much better park to pitch in, I don’t think the knuckleballer fairs as well in Milwaukee. Brice Turang homered in his last game and already has 6 long balls on the season and is a great bat at the top of the 2nd base options.

Junior Caminero (3B, TB) vs TOR

Junior already has 11 homers on the year and has proven he is a top bat in the league and a star the Rays can win with. I am stacking plenty of the Rays today against Patrick Corbin and Junior has to be one of them.

Byron Buxton (OF, MIN) vs MIA

For a lot of the top OF bats today you are paying for guys in cold stretches, but this is not the case for Buxton. He has 8 homers in his last 13 games and is slashing .316/.361/.789 over that stretch. If you aren’t using Eury today you should probably fit Buxton into your lineup.

Value Bats (Salary Savers)

  • Yandy Diaz (1B, TB):  A righty bat in the Rays lineup facing Patrick Corbin? Sign me up.
  • Kazuma Okamoto (3B, TOR): He is on a 10-game hit streak with 5 homers over that stretch.
  • Mookie Betts (SS, LAD): Grab Mookie now that he is back in the lineup and still cheap with the poor season numbers so far.
  • Julio Rodriguez (OF, SEA): With 3 homers in his last 5 games Julio is heating up and there is no way he stays priced this low for long.

🏗️ THE STACKING BLUEPRINT

Primary Stack: Tampa Bay Rays

Targets: Diaz, Vilade, Caminero, Aranda, Williamson

Opponent: Toronto Blue Jays | TB 4.5 implied

The Rays continue to be a top team in baseball and today they get to face Patrick Corbin. I would at least be trying to squeeze Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero into the lineup, but think you can stack more cheap Rays alongside them as well.

Primary Stack: Milwaukee Brewers

Targets: Chourio, Turang, Contreras, Bauers, Vaughn

Opponent: San Diego Padres | MIL 4.5 implied

I don’t trust Waldron in this matchup and think that the Brewers will put up more runs than their implied run total shows with plenty of power showing up against the knuckleballer.

Contrarian Stack: Chicago White Sox

Targets: Antonacci, Vargas, Murakami, Meidroth, Montgomery

Opponent: Kansas City Royals | CWS 4.8 implied

I think people might avoid this game because of the rain, but with the wind blowing out we could get a lot of offense on both sides. I could see stacking some Royals as well but I prefer the White Sox in this matchup.

📈 THE LEVERAGE REPORT (GAME THEORY)

The Chalk (Popular)

The Pivot (Low Owned)

The Winning Logic

Peralta (highly owned)Gore (lower-owned)Both pitchers with walk problems and good strikeouts, there is so much similar here you might take a shot with the cheaper, lower-owned option.
McClanahan (highly owned)Woo (low-owned)McClanahan is on the rise with three straight scoreless outings, but I would rather take Woo in this matchup coming off a dominant outing.
LAD Chalk Stack CWS or KCR Stack (lower-owned)People will be all over LAD against Houser (as they should be), but why not pivot and take either side of the windy game with a chance for lots of homers?
