MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers

MLB DFS Top Pitchers

Kyle Harrison (MIL)

Analysis: A 60% owned pitcher who has the highest salary on the slate and has posted a negative score in consecutive starts. I wish I could tell you that Harrison is the easiest fade of all-time, but unfortunately, this offers very little in the way of upside. Harrison owns the highest strikeout rate on the slate by a significant margin, and he gets a Reds team that strikes out at the third-highest rate against left-handed pitching. 

UPDATE: Shane Drohan will start for the Brewers. 

Bryan Woo (SEA)

Analysis: Woo is coming off an incredible start against the same A's team he faces today. The main difference is this game will be played in Sutter Health Park, an elite hitter's park, rather than the pitcher's haven in Seattle where his last start took place. 

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Brandon Pfaadt (ARI)

Analysis: Pfaadt hasn't missed many bats this season, and he hasn't pitched quite as well as his surface-level results indicate. The upside is limited, but there are very few viable pitching options on this short slate. 

Tyler Mahle (ATL)

Analysis: Mahle might be the top salary-adjusted pitcher on the slate. He's been excellent since being shipped to Atlanta at the trade deadline, posting a 1.24 ERA across 36.1 innings. Philadelphia owns just a 91 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season, so the matchup sets up quite well for Mahle. 

Gage Jump (ATH)

Analysis: Jump has upside worth chasing at low ownership on this slate. He's posted a gaudy 5.62 ERA at Sutter Health, but he's also had to work around a .341 BABIP that should regress in his favor. The Mariners have posted a putrid 85 wRC+ against lefties this season, and yet, they project to be the chalkiest offense on the slate. Jump can create a ton of leverage if he's able to have a successful outing.

MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Stacks & Hitters

MLB DFS Top Hitters

Jackson Chourio (OF, MIL) & Jake Bauers (1B/OF, MIL)

Analysis: Chourio has been out of this world recently, with three straight games of at least three hits. He owns a ridiculous 202 wRC+ in September, and he draws a plus matchup against Singer. Bauers holds the platoon advantage against Singer, who has allowed a .203 ISO to left-handed batters this season, and he's crushed righties for a .215 ISO himself. 

Randy Arozarena, Julio Rodriguez (OF, SEA) & Cal Raleigh (C, SEA)

Analysis: The Mariners have struggled against lefties this season, but there are some strong career numbers and past-season successes throughout the lineup. Arozarena has a .204 ISO against lefties this season and a .218 ISO in his career. Rodriguez was up at .238 ISO against lefties last season, but he's had a down year. Raleigh has come on strong in the second half after struggling all year. He posted an absurd .400 ISO against lefties last year.  

Miguel Vargas (3B, CWS)

Analysis: Vargas has been great against both splits this season, so he should be unfazed by the piggyback situation. He's been particularly great against lefties, with a .294 ISO and .406 wOBA. 

Corbin Carroll (OF, ARI)  

Analysis: Carroll returned to the lineup after an injury scare involving a back issue caused him to miss a couple of games. He promptly homered to ease any concerns about his health. Overall, he owns a .223 ISO against righties this season. 

Corey Seager (SS, TEX) 

Analysis: Seager owns an excellent 137 wRC+ since returning from the IL on 7/31. He's now up to a .202 ISO against righties despite a rough start to the season. Pfaadt has allowed a .192 ISO to lefties while striking out fewer than 15% of them. 

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Nolan Arenado (3B, ARI)

Analysis: Arenado has had a nice bounce-back season after struggling last year. He owns a .185 ISO against righties on the season, and he's been scorching hot in September with a 160 wRC+ and .323 ISO. 

Taylor Ward (OF, SEA)

Analysis: Ward has really struggled since joining the Mariners, but he draws an elite spot against a lefty in Sutter Health tonight. Even as he's deep into the second month of his slump, Ward still owns a respectable .322 wOBA vs. lefties.
