Jesus Luzardo MLB ParlayPlay Pick: Higher than 7.5 Strikeouts

Luzardo has been one of the best pitchers in the National League all year, 9-4 with a 3.43 ERA and 143 strikeouts in 115.1 innings, an 11.2 K/9 that stacks up with anyone in baseball. Philadelphia has won 10 consecutive starts he's made this season, and his last time out, his first back from the All-Star break, was clean and efficient: five innings, one run, two hits against the Mets.

He gets a Yankees lineup missing Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton tonight, and New York strikes out against lefties at a 24.6% clip, a strong number for a pitcher operating at this level. There's a small historical wrinkle, an ugly line against the Yankees from a couple of seasons back, but it came in a tiny two-start sample against a completely different roster than the one he's facing tonight. That is the number. That is the play.

Tarik Skubal MLB ParlayPlay Pick: Higher than 7.5 Strikeouts

Skubal is 6-5 with a 2.83 ERA, and the underlying numbers have been even better than the results, a 3.04 FIP and just a 17.5% hard-hit rate allowed over his last five outings. His last start was dominant, seven shutout innings and nine strikeouts against the Angels on only 87 pitches, extending a streak of nine-plus punchouts in four straight night games.

Tonight he gets Kansas City in what's shaping up to be a bullpen game, with opener Beck Way expected to last only an inning or two before Kansas City's shaky bullpen, a 5.27 xERA over its last week, takes over. That setup gives Skubal a long runway against the same soft lineup all night. Do not overthink it.
