Jac Caglianone MLB ParlayPlay Fantasy Pick: More Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

Jac Caglianone continues to be one of the hottest hitters in the league. The Kansas City Royals’ first baseman is batting .410 with a 1.190 OPS over his last 15 games. He also has a .309 batting average and .903 OPS over his last 31 contests. 

Let’s back Caglianone to keep it going on Sunday. The Los Angeles Angels will start right-hander Ryan Johnson, who has a 6.71 ERA and 1.56 WHIP this year. He’s had a couple of decent outings lately, but he’s still vulnerable to a shaky start.  

Meanwhile, Caglianone is hitting .281 with an .854 OPS against right-handed pitching this season. As for Johnson, the Angels’ starter is allowing an .852 OPS to left-handed batters so far. It sets up well for Caglianone to stay hot. 

Tarik Skubal MLB ParlayPlay Fantasy Pick: More Than 7.5 Strikeouts

Tarik Skubal has endured mixed results since being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his debut, he allowed two runs over six solid innings against the Cubs. Then he gave up three runs over five innings against the Royals in his second outing. He also recorded just six strikeouts in each start. 

Those aren’t terrible numbers, but we should see a better performance from Skubal today in a favorable spot. The Milwaukee Brewers are struggling a ton against left-handed pitching lately, batting just .219 in the split in August. They also have a league-high 35.7% strikeout rate vs. lefties this month. It sets up well for Skubal to rack up strikeouts. 

Before the trade deadline, Skubal posted a 1.95 ERA and 1.73 FIP across his final six starts with Detroit. He also recorded a 67:7 K:BB ratio over his final eight outings with the Tigers, averaging 8.4 strikeouts per start. The left-hander is averaging 7.1 Ks per start overall this season. 

Skubal owns a 30.5% strikeout rate this season, ranking in the 93rd percentile. His 32.3% whiff rate and 36.2% chase rate also sit in the 92nd and 94th percentiles, respectively. Combine those elite underlying metrics with Milwaukee’s recent issues against left-handers, and Skubal has plenty of strikeout upside today.
