Perez struck out nine batters over five innings in his last outing against Atlanta, part of a season that has him running 9.63 K/9 and a 27.1 percent strikeout rate over 104.2 innings. His 3.44 ERA reflects one of the more underrated seasons among National League starters this year. Pittsburgh's strikeout rate against right-handed pitching sits at 23.5 percent, above league average and squarely in Perez's wheelhouse given his fastball-splitter combination.
