Quinn Mathews MLB ParlayPlay Fantasy Pick: Less Than 4.5 Hits Allowed

The St. Louis Cardinals are promoting top pitching prospect Quinn Mathews to make his MLB debut on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. The talented left-hander draws a favorable matchup and can limit hits in his first big-league start. 

Mathews impressed over 19 starts at Triple-A this season, posting a 3.13 ERA while backing it up with promising underlying numbers. He had a 29.8% strikeout rate and generated ground balls at a 48.0% clip. He also held opposing hitters to a stellar .168 batting average. 

While the jump to the majors always presents a challenge, Mathews can succeed in today’s outing. Toronto has struggled to hit left-handed pitching all season, with a .216 batting average and .284 wOBA in the split, which are both last in the league. The Blue Jays’ issues have continued since the All-Star break, as they’re batting just .199 against southpaws during this stretch (27th in MLB).

With the Yankees’ lineup searching for consistency, Goldy has been one of the few reliable bats lately. Today, he finds himself in an excellent matchup against Cubs left-hander David Peterson.

It also helps that Goldy is 2-for-4 with an RBI against the veteran lefty in his career.
