MLB Week 24 Injury Report Update: Pitchers
Luis Garcia, Houston Astros - Elbow
You hate to see stuff like this. Garcia had a long, arduous rehab, and after just a couple of starts, he finds himself back on the injured list with discomfort in his right elbow. I’d expect his regular season is done, as Houston plays it very cautiously with Garcia.
Roki Sasaki, Los Angeles Dodgers - Shoulder
Don’t be surprised if, in the postseason, Sasaki works as a reliever for the Dodgers. The team is still evaluating what to do with him for the rest of the season. However, my hunch is that he could operate in a relief role, as I’m not sure there’s enough to trust to put him back in the starting rotation.
Ryan Pepiot, Tampa Bay Rays - Fatigue
Pepiot is dealing with some fatigue, and it’s no surprise, as he’s handled a career-high workload. He’s up to 163 IP on the year, after logging 133.1 last season between AA and MLB.
Dustin May, Boston Red Sox - Elbow
Right elbow neuritis has sent May to the injured list. It’s not crazy to think that his regular season is likely over at this point.

MLB Week 24 Injury Report Update: Hitters
Anthony Volpe, New York Yankees - Shoulder
Rumor has it that Volpe has been playing through a shoulder issue for months at this point, and a recent reaggravation has really brought it to light.
Anthony Santander, Toronto Blue Jays - Shoulder
Could the rich be getting richer? Perhaps! Santander began a rehab assignment and wasted no time leaving the park for a home run.
Jordan Westburg, Baltimore Orioles - Ankle
The expectation is for Westburg to begin a rehab assignment at some point during this weekend.
Ketel Marte, Arizona Diamondbacks - Foot
Marte is day-to-day with a foot contusion, and fortunately for Marte and the D’Backs, the X-rays didn’t reveal any major damage.
Sean Murphy, Atlanta Braves - Hip
Murphy’s 2025 season will come to an end, as he’ll opt for surgery on the labral tear in his right hip.
Tyler O’Neill, Baltimore Orioles - Wrist
Barring any last-minute setback, O’Neill should return to the Baltimore lineup today (Friday).
Masyn Winn, St. Louis Cardinals - Knee
Winn is going to gut it out for a few more weeks to make it through the season, but a procedure is in store for after the season.
