MLB Injury Report Update Ahead of This Weekend's Games

The Mariners are hoping for the best when it comes to Josh Naylor’s shoulder issue, while the Houston Astros are leaving the door open for a potential late-season return for Isaac Paredes. MLB Week 20 Injury Report Update: Pitchers

Bryce Miller, Seattle Mariners - Elbow

Bryce Miller logged 66 pitches across 3.2 IP in his last rehab start, and he’ll likely require one more rehab appearance before rejoining the big league rotation.

Michael King, San Diego Padres - Shoulder

King will return from the IL and pitch on Saturday against Boston.

Nick Lodolo, Cincinnati Reds - Finger

A blister will send Lodolo to the injured list. The hope is that his absence doesn’t extend much beyond the requirement.

Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds - Groin

Greene’s big league return is nearing, as he worked up to 66 pitches in his last rehab outing. He’s slated for another one on Friday, and a return might not be too long after that.

Jacob Misiorowski, Milwaukee Brewers - Shin/Workload Management

Misiorowski should be ready to return once he’s first eligible, which is August 15. Again, he was placed on the IL with a tibia contusion, but I believe it was also a way to manage his innings.

Grayson Rodriguez, Baltimore Orioles - Elbow/Lat

The door has officially been closed on Rodriguez’s 2025 season. He’ll undergo elbow debridement surgery, which will remove damaged tissue and debris from his elbow.

Shane Bieber, Toronto Blue Jays - Elbow

Bieber will make another rehab start this weekend, one more after that, and the hope is that he’ll then be activated from the IL to make his Blue Jays debut.

Michael Soroka, Chicago Cubs - Shoulder

Not the ideal first start on a new club, I’d say. He left the start early with discomfort in his right shoulder and was later placed on the injured list.

MLB Week 20 Injury Report Update: Hitters

Josh Naylor, Seattle Mariners - Shoulder

Naylor left Thursday’s game earlier with a shoulder injury. Consider him day to day at this time while the team evaluates the extent of the injury.

Isaac Paredes, Houston Astros - Hamstring

Paredes isn’t getting surgery on his hamstring with hopes that he can return before the season’s end. Seems like a long shot, but they are at least leaving the door open.

Tyler O’Neill, Baltimore Orioles - Wrist

O’Neill is being bothered by a wrist issue at the moment, but initial X-rays were negative. He hasn’t played since August 5.

Tommy Edman, Los Angeles Dodgers - Ankle

Edman was placed on the injured list with an ankle sprain, and currently, there’s no timetable for his return.

Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros - Hand

Alvarez continues to work his way back from his hand fracture. He’s progressed to taking batting practice, but still no clear timeline on when he’ll return.
