MLB Week 16 Injury Report Update: Pitchers

Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds - Groin

Well, this isn’t great. Greene’s groin strain is still bothering him, and there’s currently no roadmap for him.

Blake Snell, Los Angeles Dodgers - Shoulder

Snell’s rehab assignment kicked off with the southpaw striking out four batters across two scoreless innings.

Sean Manaea, New York Mets - Oblique/Elbow

Manaea is slated to pitch the team’s final game before the break, though it might not be as the starter.

Zach Eflin, Baltimore Orioles - Back

Eflin should be heading out on a rehab assignment by the end of week or early next.

Mark Leiter, New York Yankees - Leg

Leiter was placed on the IL on Tuesday with a stress fracture in his left leg.

Shane McClanahan, Tampa Bay Rays - Triceps

McClanahan’s rehab stint has begun, and he will need numerous starts before the Rays activate him. We are still weeks away from a McClanahan season debut.

MLB Week 16 Injury Report Update: Hitters

Byron Buxton, Minnesota Twins - Finger

Buxton is day to day with a hand/finger contusion.

Alex Bregman, Boston Red Sox - Quad

Bregman is expected to return from the IL at some point this weekend. Bregman hasn’t played since May 23 due to a quad strain.

Jacob Wilson, Athletics - Hand

Wilson is day-to-day with a left-hand contusion, but the good news is that X-rays came back negative.

Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles - Oblique

Rutschman remains on track to return from the IL shortly after the All-Star break.

Ivan Herrera, St. Louis Cardinals - Hamstring

Herrera began a rehab assignment on Thursday, and once activated, the Cardinals don’t anticipate him catching much, seeing as he’s spent time on the IL on two separate occasions this season for injuries with his left leg (knee, hamstring).

Jake Meyers, Houston Astros - Calf

Meyers is dealing with a calf issue, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he were to hit the IL.

Brandon Lowe, Tampa Bay Rays - Side

Lowe hasn’t played since July 6th due to side soreness, but the team remains hopeful he can avoid an IL stint.

Jesse Winker, New York Mets - Back

Winker left the first game of Thursday’s twinbill early with back tightness. He was coming off missing over two months with an oblique issue.
