MLB Week 8 Injury Report Update: Pitchers

Spencer Strider, Atlanta Braves - Hamstring

Strider will be activated from the IL and toe the rubber at some point in the upcoming series with the Washington Nationals.

Roku Sasaki, Los Angeles Dodgers - Shoulder

Sasaki was placed on the IL with a shoulder impingement. We could finally see Ben Casparius make a start or two.

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers - Knee/Toe

Kershaw is still on track for his season debut against the Angels on Saturday.

Yu Darvish, San Diego Padres - Elbow

Darvish worked through four innings in his first rehab assignment, and the expectation is that it won’t be a lengthy stay on his rehab assignment.

Bryce Miller, Seattle Mariners - Elbow

Miller becomes the latest Seattle right-hander to be placed on the injured list. Miller is dealing with some elbow inflammation, but the issue doesn’t seem major.

George Kirby, Seattle Mariners - Shoulder

Kirby’s rehab start today (Friday) could be his last one before rejoining the big league club. If that’s the case, he’ll return in the middle-to-later part of next week, but if he needs another rehab start, it might not be until somewhere around May 28th.

Tanner Houck, Boston Red Sox - Elbow

Houck was placed on the IL with a right flexor pronator strain. However, Boston should be getting back Walker Buehler early next week

Ben Joyce, Los Angeles Angels - Shoulder

Joyce will miss the rest of the season following shoulder surgery.

Update regarding #Angels RHP Ben Joyce:

Ben Joyce underwent surgery to repair his right shoulder earlier this morning. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season.”

MLB Week 8 Injury Report Update: Hitters

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers - Hamstring

Seager will head back to the IL with a strain of the same hamstring that sent him to the injured list in late April.

O’Neil Cruz, Pittsburgh Pirates - Back

Cruz is still considered day-to-day, but he’s missed the team’s last four games with his back issue.

Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa, Minnesota Twins

Both Buxton and Correa were placed in concussion protocol after a nasty collision on Thursday.

Ronald Acuna, Atlanta Braves - Knee

Acuna advanced to Triple-A for his rehab assignment. The hope is that he can be back before the calendar flips to June, and through two rehab games, he’s 3-for-6 with one HR.

Teoscar Hernandez, Los Angeles Dodgers - Hamstring

The expectation is that Hernandez will need a rehab assignment before rejoining the big league lineup. In the video below from Wednesday, you’ll see Hernandez looks pretty good running.

Westburg is trying to work back from a hamstring strain, but he suffered another setback and will be shut down. TBD on any updated timeline.

TJ Friedl, Cincinnati Reds - Wrist

An MRI revealed that Friedl is dealing with a bone bruise in his right wrist. Consider him day to day.
