MLB Injury Report: Starting Pitchers

Chris Sale, Atlanta Braves - Rib

Sale will head to the injured list with a fractured left ribcage. Yikes. There’s no timetable for his return at this juncture.

Cole Ragans. Kansas City Royals - Shoulder

Ragans will be shut down from throwing until early July as he is dealing with a rotator cuff strain.

Tyler Glasnow, Los Angeles Dodgers - Shoulder

Glasnow began a rehab assignment, and he walked three batters over two scoreless innings on Sunday. I’d expect a handful of rehab appearances before the thought of activation from the IL.

Nathan Eovaldi, Texas Rangers - Triceps

Eovaldi’s return from his triceps issue is on the horizon, and he’ll take a turn in the rotation this week. Roster Resource has Eovaldi as the tentative starter for Friday’s game against the Mariners.

Shota Imanaga, Chicago Cubs - Hamstring

Imanaga looked crisp in his second rehab start, and the expectation is that he’s done with minor league appearances. Roster Resource has him as the tentative starter for Thursday’s game against St. Louis.

Ryan Yarbrough, New York Yankees - Oblique

The team has said that Yarbrough has a “low-grade” oblique strain, but he was placed on the IL retroactive to June 20. We could be seeing Marcus Stroman back in the rotation soon, however, as he is slated to throw 70-ish pitches in his rehab start on Tuesday.

Hunter Dobbins, Boston Red Sox - Elbow

An elbow strain will send Dobbins to the injured list.

Max Scherzer, Toronto Blue Jays - Thumb

Scherzer will return to the rotation and start on Wednesday against Cleveland. It marks his second start with Toronto this season, and his first since March 29.

MLB Injury Report: Hitters

Corbin Carroll, Arizona Diamondbacks - Hand

Today (June 23rd) is a big day for Arizona, as Carroll will undergo an MRI to reveal the extent of the damage in his left hand. He has not played since being hit almost a week ago.

Mark Vientos, New York Mets - Hamstring

Vientos began a rehab assignment last week, and the expectation is that he’ll be activated at some point during this week. Vientos is just 2-for-17 across four rehab games, but the big thing is that he has come out of each game healthy.

Jake Burger, Texas Rangers - Oblique

Burger was placed on the IL with an oblique strain. Ezequiel Duran has started both games at first base since Burger’s injury.

Adley Rutschman, Baltimore Orioles - Oblique

Baltimore’s young catcher was placed on the IL with a left oblique strain, and this marks the first time in his big league career he’ll hit the injured list.

Jordan Westburg, Baltimore Orioles - Hand

The hope is that Westburg’s hand/finger issue is merely just a day-to-day thing.

Thairo Estrada, Colorado Rockies - Hand

Estrada has been out of the lineup since being hit on the hand last week. He’s dealing with a right-hand contusion.
