Hitters
Play of the Day: George Springer-- Springer is highly underpriced compared to the top OF options tonight. He’s coming off of a 6-for-12, with two home runs series vs. the Mets, and went 1-for-4 in the first game of this series. Springer is batting .317 on the road compared to just .279 at home. Springer faces the lefty Miranda tonight, and is 4-for-13 lifetime off of him, with all four hits going for home runs. Springer is priced outside of the top 30 OF options on Y! tonight, but in the top-10 of active OF options on the other sites.
Top Play: Jose Ramirez-- Ramirez is another underpriced player to target on Y! at only $17, but is listed as a third base option. Ramirez followed-up on his 5-for-5, two home run game vs. Detroit, with a long ball vs. the White Sox last night. The Sox starter David Holmberg throws strikes, and look for Ramirez to once again have plenty of opportunities in an offense that has scored 84 runs during their 12-game win streak.
Value Play: Albert Pujols- Pujols is only batting .244 for the season, but the recent addition to their lineup has helped Pujols up his RBI total to 91 for the season. Twelve of those RBI have come over his last five games, where Pujols has gone 12-for-22 from the plate. He faces Graveman tonight, and Pujols already has a two home run game vs. him this season, and is 12-for-28, with three homers off of him over his career.
GPP Play: Eric Thames-- If not on Pujols, Thames is in play for a value price tag at first base tonight. His 10 home runs vs. the Reds this year is the most any player in the majors has this season against one team. Thames faces Stephenson tonight, and is 2-for-2, with two homers against in their only matchups.
Pitchers
Play of the Day: Jacob deGrom-- deGrom is trying to join three other N.L. pitchers that have 15 wins this season when he faces the Phillies tonight at home. He is currently a heavy favorite tonight, as the Phillies have the lowest projected run total of the evening. deGrom is 6-0, with a 2.10 ERA over 10 career starts vs. them, including two wins this year. In those two starts, deGrom allowed just one run, while striking out 21 batters over 13.2 innings.
Top Play: Stephen Strasburg-- Strasburg has faced the Marlins more than any other team over his career. He is 4-for-5, with a 4.76 ERA over nine starts at Miami, but he’ll be coming off a complete game shutout of the Marlins in his last start to end the month of August. He struck out eight batters, while scattering six hits. Strasburg has two straight starts now of not allowing an earned run, but the Marlins still remain a dangerous team to pitch against.
Value Play: Michael Wacha-- Carlos Martinez pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts yesterday in San Diego, and Wacha receives the chance to follow-up on that great start. Wacha snapped his three-start losing streak with win vs. the Giants. He remains in a pitcher’s ballpark, and is 2-0, with a 1.89 ERA over three career starts vs. the Padres.
GPP Play: Miguel Gonzalez-- Gonzalez makes his Rangers debut tonight after being traded to them from the White Sox. Gonzalez had been pitching well before being traded, going 2-0, with a 1.85 ERA over his last five starts. The Rangers are slight underdogs on the road today, and with plenty of pitching options, Miguel may go extremely low owned in his debut for Texas tonight.
