Hitters ----

Play of the Day: Lucas Duda: Duda is 6-8 with 2 HR's off of Leake, who although is still 6th in the league with a 3.14 ERA, he is only 1-5 with a 4.56 ERA over his past nine starts. Duda has gone deep in two of past three games.

Top Play: - Paul Goldschmidt:  Goldschmidt took Adleman deep in their July 7th matchup, and started the series by reaching base all five times he came to the plate last night.  Votto on the other side is 12-32 with three HR’s vs Greinke, and in play for gpp’s.

Value Play: Alex Avila -- Avila isn’t the cheapest catcher, but priced well in a matchup where the game time temperature will be well over 90 degrees at Kauffman tonight.  Hammel has a career 8.02 ERA vs the Tigers, and is 0-2 with a 6.35 ERA in July.

Value Play: Mikie Mahtook--Mahtook provides salary relief in the OF tonight.  He’s 4-10 with a HR and 2B in the series, recording his first two XBH’s since July 1.

Pitchers ----

Play of the Day: Jacob deGrom- deGrom has won six straight starts, pitching at least seven innings in all six.  He has 47 K’s in 47 innings with a 1.53 ERA during that span.  Hit for over 32 Y! Points in six of seven, with only his start vs this same Cards team going for less.  Should have better outing vs them tonight.

Top Play:  Gio Gonzalez- Gio has held opponents to two or less runs in 14 of his 19 starts, allowing only 13 runs over his last eight starts.  Hasn’t recorded a double digit K game this season, but reached at least eight K’s six times this season.

Top Play: Zack Greinke--  Top price option on Y! Tonight that pitched seven shutout innings vs the Reds on July 7th.  Greinke is 10-3 with a 2.62 ERA over his last 15 starts, and is 8-2 with a 2.21 ERA in 13 career starts vs the Reds.

GPP Play:  Aaron Sanchez- Value pitching is thin tonight, but Sanchez makes for nice gpp pivot option tonight.  He’s coming off his first win of the season, and has a four game win streak going vs the Red Sox.  Sanchez is 3-0 with a 2.05 ERA over his career at Fenway. while holding current Red Sox hitters to .204 avg.
