Week 10 of the NFL season is nearly complete, of course there is Monday Night Football still to be played, but there were plenty of players who stepped forward, and fell behind, who have already played. In what follows I will give a few thoughts on these fellas by detailing the best and the worst of Week 10.Denario Alexander had the quintessential breakout afternoon for the Chargers as he caught six balls for 134 yards an a touchdown. Most of that was on his first reception, and 80 yard score, but we have finally seen a wide receiver emerge for the Chargers after Robert Meachem has been invisible nearly all year. Can Denario stay healthy?Danny Amendola had an 80 yard pass in overtime called back because of an illegal formation. He still went nuts in his first game back from a collarbone injury with 11 receptions and 102 yards on 12 targets. He's back to being a must start just like that.
Even when Drew Brees is blah, he's still so good. He threw for 298 yards and three scores against the Falcons.Reggie Bush had a horrible day for the Dolphins. He ran four times for 21 yards and a fumble in the first quarter. Has he lost the lead role to Daniel Thomas? It seems like he just might have.Victor Cruz couldn't get loose in Week 10 as he caught three balls for 26 yards. He's caught only 10 balls for 116 yards his last three games as the Giants passing attack is in serious decline.Andy Dalton threw for four touchdown passes. He didn't even reach 200 passing yards on the day finishing one yard short. He also failed to throw an interception for the first time this season.Eric Decker had scored in 5-straight games. That run ended painfully in Week 10 as Decker caught two balls for 15 yards.Joe Flacco threw for 341 yards and three scores. He ran for a fourth score. Boom.Fred Jackson was about to be superseded by C.J. Spiller according to reports. Uh, no. Jackson ran for 80 yards and two scores while catching four passes for another 35 yards. Spiller also had a strong game with 70 yards rushing and four catches for another 61 yards as the Bills failed to do what they said they would â get the ball in Spiller's hands more. They may not have a choice in Week 11 if Jackson suffered a concussion on a hit in the 4th quarter.Have you finally resigned yourself to listening to me? Chris Johnson went for 126 yards an a score. That's an average of 130 rushing yards a game the past five contests for the guy you all wanted to bail on early in the year (at least 91 yards each time out).Donald Jones, an if you didnât know he plays for the Bills, caught six passes for 74 yards an a score.
Everyone was excited about Tawain Jones â keep in mind that I did recommend starting Marcel Reece instead â but he produced 13 yards on three touches (fricken Jeremy Stewart saw more work than Jones). Consider the Raiders' coaching staff to be flat out liars. Reece ran for 48 yards and had seven receptions for 56 yards by the way and was a solid PPR play.Antonio Gates caught four balls for 57 yards an a score. He's scored four times in his last four games.Tony Gonzalez scored the 100th touchdown of his NFL career. That was far from all that he did as he also scored a second time. He also had 122 yards and 11 receptions. Another game for the record books.Jimmy Graham caught seven balls for 146 yards in a breathtaking effort. I forgot to note that two of those catches resulted in slam dunks meaning he scored twice folks.Calvin Johnson blew up for 12 receptions, 207 yards an a score. This is exactly why you never bench Johnson. He's as elite as elite ever is.Peyton Manning only threw for one score, but he tossed the pigskin for 301 yards. That's 7-straight games of at least 290 yards passing for the elder Manning.Ryan Mathews caught five balls in Week 10. However, they only went for 22 yards while his 17 carries resulted in three yards a carry (54 yards).Greg Olsen not only caught a career best nine passes, he went for 102 yards and two scores for the Panthers. The yards also tied a career best.Oops I Did It Again. Adrian Peterson carried the ball 21 times for 171 yards an a score in Week 10. That's 120+ yards rushing in 4-straight games. Three of those games have seen AD go for more than 150 yards.Dennis Pitta finally showed up. He caught five balls for 67 yards an a score as he played through a big shot to his noggin.Sidney Rice only caught two passes for 54 yards. However, like another receiver listed below both receptions went for scores.Philip Rivers had a solid outing. Despite having his left guard out of the mix, Rivers shred the Bucs for 337yards and three touchdowns. Yes he tossed two interceptions, one horrifyingly pathetic, but he also completed 29 of 37 passes.Kyle Rudolph welcome back to the world of the living. With Percy Harvin (ankle) out, Rudolph went for seven receptions, 64 yards an a score. He had two receptions for 17 yards the previous three weeks.
No one can stop Matt Ryan. He calmly torched the Saints awful pass defense for 34 completions, 411 yards (a career best) and three scores.Mark Sanchez is 3-9 in his last 12 games and completed nine passes for 124 yards in Week 10. Rex Ryan says he remains the Jets' starter. Rex Ryan, you're an idiot. Start Tim Tebow.Steve Smith caught one ball for 19 yards. He just cannot find the old consistency train.Torrey Smith didn't exactly have a great day with two catches for 67 yards. However, he was a fantasy superstar nonetheless as his two receptions were both touchdowns.
Another day, another 329 yards and three touchdowns for Matthew Stafford.Ryan Tannehill didn't exactly take advantage of a great matchup against the Titans as he threw for 217 yards, no scores, and three interceptions.Golden Tate had two receptions for 51 yards an a score. He also threw a 23 yards TD pass, so make sure you get credit for that in your fantasy league.Michael Turner continues to regress and look old. He ran the ball 13 times for 15 yards in a horrific performance against the Saints.Danny Woodhead caught four passes for 46 yards an a score, and he also had a 15 yard touchdown run. Good for him.
