A 14-game slate is what we’re getting tonight but that might shrink throughout the day due to weather concerns across the northeast and mid-atlantic. As always with such a big slate, value is going to be important to get in your lineups to really move up the leaderboards so let’s get into those value plays for the slate.
All Sites
Nathaniel Lowe - 1B TEX ($3,200 DK/ $2,700 FD/ $11 Yahoo) - Lowe has the second-best wOBA against LHPs in the Rangers’ lineup at .304 and his .250 average is third-best as well. Cole Irvin, the A’s starter, has been hit pretty hard by LHHs this year with a .315 wOBA allowed and over a .700 OPS given up as well.
Matt Carpenter - 1B/2B/3B STL ($2,100 DK/ $2,000 FD/ $9 Yahoo) - Ok so this a weird one given how he’s played this year and that he normally sits versus lefties on the mound. However two things are in his favor today, one, the DH is in play being the game is in KC and two, he’s 7-for-12 previously against Mike Minor and Minor is allowing a .318 wOBA to LHHs this year. If he’s not in the lineup you could look to Tommy Edman who’s a switch-hitter and can get the advantage that way.
Michael A. Taylor - OF KC ($2,000 DK/ $2,400 FD/ $10 Yahoo) - Look I get it, Taylor hasn’t been lighting the world on fire most of the season, however, he’s started to turn it back on of late. He’s posted three multi-hit games with three thefts in the last six games with him hitting .347 overall in that span. Eight of his 10 homers have come against RHPs and with Jack Flaherty in his first start back from an Oblique injury that’s kept him out since late-May, there’s a shot to capitalize on rust for the Cardinals’ righty who by the way was 2.5 runs per nine worse away from Busch Stadium earlier in the year.
Yahoo!
Carson Kelly - C ARI ($8) - Kelly is coming off a big game on Thursday in which he went 4-for-5 with a double, two RBI, and a run scored and he’s been heating up at the plate before that too. Against LHPs, the Diamondbacks’ catcher is hitting .350 with a .482 wOBA and five of his eight homers and Blake Snell hasn’t exactly been a lock down option against RHHs this year with a .375 wOBA allowed. Save money on a catcher spot and get a tasty match-up? Check.
Yuli Gurriel - 1B HOU ($7) - Come on Yahoo, I know he’s just coming off the IL but the stat line alone should justify a higher price. Against left-handed pitchers this year, Gurriel is hitting .331 with a .407 wOBA and seven homers in 124 at-bats. For Sandoval’s part, he’s allowing a .313 wOBA to RHHs but just a .218 wOBA to LHHs. Let’s hammer this misprice and reap the rewards.
DraftKings
Jorge Polanco - 2B MIN ($3,100) - Come on DraftKings. There’s no reason that Polanco, who’s hitting .289 with six homers and 11 RBI in his last 10 games and has a .326 wOBA with five homers off of lefties, should be this cheap. Shane McClanahan hasn’t locked down lefty hitters either and as a switch-hitter, Polanco could take advantage of the match-up and hit left-handed or simply hit righty and still have good numbers against the struggling McClanahan.
Ty France - 1B SEA ($3,500) - Against Robbie Ray, if you like BvP, France is 5-for-10 with two homers and five RBI and against lefties on the mound this year in general, France has six homers and a .345 wOBA. Ray has been better this year but is still prone to long balls and with France warming up, hitting .375 and .919 OPS in the last 10 games, he may be in a good spot to add to his career numbers against Ray.
FanDuel
Patrick Wisdom - 3B CHC ($2,900) - There’s no doubt that the Cubs lineup has been floundering a bit since the trade deadline but that doesn’t mean there isn’t value there. They are facing the struggling lefty Jesús Luzardo tonight and Wisdom has been good against lefties all year with a .383 wOBA and five homers off of them in 64 at-bats. Luzardo is coming off a start in which he allowed seven earned and has allowed a .404 wOBA to right-handed hitters this year. The Cubs could be a sneaky stack tonight too.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. - OF TOR ($2,700) - Gurriel has been stroking the ball well against RHPs this year with 10 homers and a .331 wOBA against them and Seattle’s starter, Chris Flexen, has done his best to help out right-handed hitters this year with a .354 wOBA allowed. In his last 10 games, Gurriel has a whopping 1.040 OPS with three homers and three doubles. Get exposure to an explosive Blue Jays lineup with a late night hammer flare.
