Happy Sunday everyone! With the start of the NFL season, especially with this being Week 1 the DFS platforms really diminished their contest offerings for MLB DFS, hopefully just for today. That doesn't mean however that the content for MLB DFS here at Alarm Sports Network is going anywhere!
Given the nature of today's slate we are going to do an extended version of the usual core plays while highlighting some of our favorite options.
With that said lets go win some money today!
Top Stacks
Toronto Blue Jays vs Zac Lowther
Atlanta Braves vs Edward Cabrera
Philadelphia Phillies vs Ryan Feltner
Baltimore Orioles vs Steven Matz
Core Plays
Pitching
Aaron Nola, SP PHI - Let's be upfront about something here ok? Nola has not been very good of late, his ERA has ballooned north of 4.00 and he now has a losing record of 7-8. So, why is he a core play today? Well, for starters, his home ERA on the year is 3.33 much better than his road ERA of 5.57. He is also facing a Rockies team that is the worst road team in baseball when it comes to nearly all offensive statistics. This is screaming like a turnaround game for Nola.
Max Fried, SP ATL - Loving me pretty much any matchup here against the Miami Marlins. The Marlins rank towards the top of the league in strikeout rate and towards the bottom of the league in most offensive categories. Fried has been fantastic of late, posting a 2.21 ERA over his last 10 starts and while the Marlins have had Fried's number this season, I am trusting that changes!
Hitting
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B, TOR - Vlad is raking here once again, hitting .395 with an OPS of 1.109 over the last 10 games. He has four home runs during that stretch and now has 43 home runs on the season. He faces a Baltimore southpaw in Zac Lowther who has allowed 11 runs on 16 hits over 14.1 innings this season.
Bryce Harper, OF PHI - Oh yes, Harper is LOCKED IN and that is not hyperbole! Over the last 10 games he has an OPS of 1.157 with five home runs. He hit his 31st home run of the season on Saturday to go along with a .307 batting average. The Rockies are running out right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner today. In Feltner's lone appearance this season he allowed six runs on five hits over 2.2 innings.
Nick Castellanos, OF CIN - We get Castellanos here against a LHP in J.A. Happ which is a matchup we should be enjoying. Now, the Reds have had a lot of success against LHP this season but I will at least mention that this matchup would be better if they were in Cinci and not St. Louis. Either way, I am ready to rock with Castelllanos who is hitting .333 with four homers over his last 10 games which includes a home run yesterday.
