There are 12 games on the main slate of action for MLB for Wednesday. This playbook will not have the three afternoon games. It is a nice change for a Wednesday where the slates have been split almost in half almost every week.
It is an interesting slate with several top end pitchers going but quite honeslty I am not sure we have one clear cut best option. Cole Hamels heads to Baltimore who are always a bit of a threat. Johnny Cueto takes on the Phillies who destroyed the Giants yesterday. Cueto also has gone less than 6 innings in his last 3 starts as well. Chris Sale takes on a Tigers team who has won 7 games in a row. Sale has been decent vs. the Tigers in his career but that of course is below his regular career numbers versus most teams.
We have another game in Coors Field which should be interesting with two pitchers who could possibly throw decent games. Brock Stewart is a talented youngster who has shown big strikeout upside. Tyler Anderson has been a surprise rookie who has handled Coors well so far against a Dodgers team who has struggled vs. left-handed pitching.
The hitters should be solid with the exception of the shortstop and third base positions which really lacks top quality options when it comes to price vs. expected production. This would be a good spot to possibly save some salary if needed.
