We’ve got our usual split slate here on Wednesday and we actually have some nice, solid options on both the early and the late slates. Let’s just get right to it then…

Jon Lester, CHC – While run support may be an issue for him, he’s got everything else going right. He’s only faced the Cardinals once this season and limited them to two runs over six innings. Now he faces them while they’re struggling with a .270 wOBA and a 23-percent strikeout rate over the last seven days. Should be an easy day for the lefty.
Madison Bumgarner, SF – He’s got a 2.91 ERA with 29 strikeouts over 21.2 innings against the Padres this season and their offense just continues to look atrocious. They couldn’t hit Bumgarner well before the trade deadline and now that their numbers against southpaws have declined so heavily since then, does anyone really think they’re going to give him problems?
Carlos Martinez, STL – I like him more on Draft Kings and Fantasy Aces because his price is significantly lower than the above two pitchers. Not so much on Fan Duel. His numbers against the Cubs don’t look all that strong but that’s because one bad outing in May is skewing the numbers. He’s actually tossed two strong, quality starts in three outings against them. The Cubs are posting just a .263 wOBA with a strikeout rate just over 24-percent in the last week, so you should be able to pay down here and still get a solid outing.
Michael Pineda, NYY – The Dodgers have been atrocious at the plate lately, posting a .258 wOBA with just a .345 slugging percentage and 28.7-percent strikeout rate. Battling Kershaw for the win might not even be an issue as Kershaw still isn’t 100-percent and could be out of the game after four or five innings.

Jose Fernandez, MIA – He’s faced the Braves twice this season, one seven-inning shutout and one six-run debacle over five innings. I’m willing to back him in a best two-out-of-three here. The Braves may be seeing the ball well lately, but they’re still one of the worst-hitting teams against right-handers on the season.
Yordano Ventura, KC – The A’s are another team hitting well as of late, but there’s just no consistency. I’ll use Ventura against a team that has a 28th-ranked .302 wOBA on the year against righties. You probably won’t see big strikeout totals but he should keep their bats in line.
Julio Teheran, ATL – Tough to grab the win against Fernandez, but he shouldn’t have much issue keeping the Marlins bats at bay. After all, the Fish have posted just a .300 wOBA over the last seven days and that comes with a .064 ISO and some weak contact rates.
Hisashi Iwakuma, SEA – Sometimes you just have to keep picking on a team that is cold at the plate until they give you a reason not to and the Angels have yet to stick up for themselves here. I’ll go back to the well again after watching Taijuan Walker dominate them yesterday and bank on Iwakuma posting a strong night against a team that has a .227 wOBA with a .113 ISO and 23.9-percent strikeout rate over the last seven days.
Steven Brault, PIT – Now here’s a dart I have yet to throw this season, but I’ll take a shot on Brault in a low-cost GPP. Not only are the Phillies struggling with a .282 wOBA and 32.4-percent strikeout rate over the past week, but they also remain one of the worst offenses against lefties this year -- .279 wOBA with a 23-percent K-rate.
