With Jim Johnson struggling, look for Hunter to get a few saves chances down the road if the team decides to make a move. 4 PC-3 ST (8/18/13)Boston Red Sox(CL) Solid Koji Uehara (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one hit while striking out two batters on 13 pitches thrown. This was Uehara's first appearance since Tuesday, so expect him to be used again on Sunday if needed. 13 PC-11 ST (8/17/13) (SU) Junichi Tazawa (R)--Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Sunday allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 13 pitches thrown. Lindstrom has now pitched three innings over the last four days, so a day off on Monday couldn't have come at a better time. 29 PC-21 ST (8/18/13) (MR) Nate Jones (R)--Picked up his ninth hold of the season Saturday despite surrendering two runs on two hits and one walk in the eighth inning. Jones has now pitched three consecutive days, and has been struggling as of late, so a day off on Sunday in likely. 19 PC-11 ST (8/17/13)Cleveland Indians(CL) Solid Chris Perez (R)--Picked up the win on Wednesday despite being charged with his fourth blown-save after allowing one run on two hits in two innings of relief. Perez improved to 5-2 on the season, and has now pitched consecutive days, but with a scheduled day off on Thursday, he should be good to go for Friday. 25 PC-16 ST (8/14/13) (SU) Joe Smith (R)--Earned his 18th hold of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing two hits while striking out one batter on 14 pitches thrown. This was Smith's first outing since Wednesday, so expect him to be available for Sunday's series finale. 14 PC-10 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Marc Rzepczynski (L)--Pitched two innings of scoreless relief on Monday night allowing two walks while striking out two batters on 38 pitches thrown. Considering how much he has been used over the last week, expect the Indians to give him the day off on Tuesday. 38 PC-21 ST (8/12/13)Detroit Tigers(CL) Solid Joaquin Benoit (R)–Was used in a non-save situation on Sunday allowing one run on two hits in the ninth inning. Benoit has now pitched back-to-back days, but with a scheduled day off on Monday, he will be ready to go for the team's series opener with the Twins. 16 PC-13 ST (8/18/13) (SU) Jose Veras (R)--Was used in the eighth inning on Saturday allowing one run on three hits in the appearance. Veras threw 23 pitches in the outing, forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs to eventually stop the bleeding. 23 PC-13 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Bruce Rondon (R)--Earned his second hold of the season Thursday after recording the final two outs of the eighth inning. Rondon faced only two batters in the appearance, forcing two fly ball outs on nine pitches thrown to secure the Tigers lead heading to the ninth inning. 9 PC-5 ST (8/15/13) Injured– Octavio Dotel (Shoulder)Houston Astros(CL) Committee Josh Fields (R)--Took the loss on Saturday night after surrendering a game-winning home run to Josh Hamilton in the 10th inning. Fields pitched a scoreless ninth inning prior to blowing the game, and should stay in contention for save chances down the line. 16 PC-13 ST (8/17/13) (CL) Committee Chia-Jen Lo (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation allowing one hit on 18 pitches thrown. Lo remains perfect since being recalled from Triple A and should remain in the chase to earn save chances for the remainder of the season. 18 PC-15 ST (8/16/13) (CL) Committee Kevin Chapman (L)--Earned his first save of the season Sunday after recording the final two outs of the ninth inning. Chapman will likely find himself in the mix for saves with both Josh Fields and Chia-Jen Lo for the remainder of the season, giving him a little fantasy value moving forward. 4 PC-2 ST (8/18/13)Kansas City Royals(CL) Elite Greg Holland (R)–Recorded his 33rd and 34th saves on Friday after pitching in both ends of the team's doubleheader. Holland pitched two inning in total Friday, so he will likely be given the day off on Saturday considering he has now pitched three innings this week. 27 PC-17 ST (8/16/13) (SU) Aaron Crow (R)–Took the loss on Saturday after failing to record an out in the ninth inning after serving up a game-winning home run to Miguel Cabrera to end the game. Crow has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to be given the day off on Sunday. 5 PC-2 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Kelvin Herrera (R)--Pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief on Saturday allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 17 pitches thrown. Herrera has now pitched back-to-back days, so there is a good chance he will be given the day off on Sunday. 17 PC-13 ST (8/17/13)Los Angeles Angels(CL) Shaky Dane De La Rosa (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday night allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 19 pitches thrown. De La Rosa was used outside of the ninth inning, which Ernesto Frieri used int he ninth and 10th innings, so maybe the Angels are going to give Frieri another shot at closing. 19 PC-13 ST (8/17/13) (SU) Ernesto Frieri (R)–Picked up the win on Saturday night after pitching two scoreless innings of relief allowing one hit while striking out four batters on 26 pitches thrown. The fact Frieri was used at the end of the game may mean the Angels are ready to let him close once again, but there has been no official word from the team yet. 26 PC-18 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Kevin Jepsen (R)--Failed to record an out in his appearance on Friday night after surrendering two hits on seven pitches thrown. Jepsen has not been pitching well as of late, but should remain in the Angels bullpen for the remainder of the season, considering he is not the worst of one of the worst bullpens in all of baseball. 7 PC-4 ST (8/16/13) Injured:  Ryan Madson (Elbow), Sean Burnett (Elbow)Minnesota Twins(CL) Solid Glen Perkins (L)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. Perkins needed only 10 pitches to work through the frame, forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out while striking out one batter to keep the Twins within striking distance. 10 PC-10 ST (8/18/13) (SU) Casey Fien (R)--Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Saturday surrendering two runs on two hits in the appearance. Fien has struggled immensely over the last few games, having served up seven runs in 2.2 innings of work. 23 PC-15 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Jared Burton (R)–Picked up the win on Thursday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning in a non-save situation allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 12 pitches thrown. Burton has been pitching very well as of late, but has limited fantasy value in holds leagues for the remainder of the season. 12 PC-10 ST (8/15/13)New York Yankees(CL) Solid Mariano Rivera (R)–Recorded his 36th save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing on hit and one walk on 19 pitches thrown. Rivera got himself into a jam, but was able to work around two base runners to secure the series with for the Yankees. 19 PC-11 ST (8/18/13) (SU) David Robertson (R)–Earned his 29th hold of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit while striking out three batters on 17 pitches thrown. Robertson dominated the opposition in this one, firing first pitch strikes to all four batters he faced, which set himself up nicely for a great inning. 17 PC-13 ST (8/18/13) (MR) Boone Logan (R)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning allowing one walk while striking out one batters on nine pitches thrown. Logan has struggled as of late, but when he was needed most he came through to help the Yankees take this weekend's series in Boston. 9 PC-4 ST (8/18/13)Oakland Athletics(CL) Elite Grant Balfour (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. Balfour needed 15 pitches to work through the frame, forcing one fly ball out while striking out two batters to seal the victory for the Athletics. 15 PC-10 ST (8/18/13) (SU) Ryan Cook (R)--Earned his 18th hold of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit while striking out two batters on 19 pitches thrown. Cook has been pitching very well as of late, having struck out three batters over his last 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. 19 PC-12 ST (8/18/13) (MR) Sean Doolittle (L)–Picked up his 18th hold of the season Sunday after recording the final two outs of the seventh inning. Doolittle needed only six pitches to work through the frame, forcing one ground ball out to get the job done. 6 PC-3 ST (8/18/13)Seattle Mariners(CL) Shaky Danny Farquhar (R)--Recorded his seventh save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. After a rough outing earlier in the week, Farquhar has now fired two scoreless innings, so he will continue to be used in the closer role for the foreseeable future. 8 PC-6 ST (8/18/13) (MR) Charlie Furbush (L)--Was used to record the final two outs of the eighth inning on Saturday and did so but not before allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits. Furbush threw 30 pitches in this appearance and has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to get the day off on Sunday. 30 PC-21 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Yoervis Medina (R)--Picked up the win despite being charged with a blown-save Sunday after pitching one inning of relief. Medina has now pitched three of the last five days, so a day off on Monday is likely in store for him to start the week. 23 PC-14 ST (8/18/13) Injured–Stephen Pryor (back)Tampa Bay Rays(CL) Solid Fernando Rodney (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation allowing one hit on 19 pitches thrown. Rodney has pitched only twice since the start of last week, so expect him to be available for the Rays series opener with the Orioles on Monday. 19 PC-11 ST (8/18/13) (SU) Joel Peralta (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Peralta needed only 11 pitches to work through the frame, forcing one ground ball out while striking out two batters to keep the game tied heading into the ninth inning. 11 PC-8 ST (8/18/13) (MR) Jake McGee (L)--Picked up the win on Sunday after pitching a scoreless 10th inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. McGee needed only 10 pitches to work through the frame, forcing two ground ball outs while striking out one batter to secure his third win of the season. 10 PC-9 ST (8/18/13) Injured--Jesse Crain (Shoulder)Texas Rangers(CL) Elite Joe Nathan (R)–Took the loss on Sunday after surrendering one run on two hits and two walks in the ninth inning. This wasn't the best showing from Scheppers, but at least he was able to get out of the appearance with limited damage. 21 PC-13 ST (8/16/13) (MR) Joakim Soria (R)--Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Tuesday night allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter on 28 pitches thrown. The Rangers were already down by a lot so at least the run allowed by Soria did not effect the outcome of the game. 28 PC-17 ST (8/13/13)Toronto Blue Jays(CL) Solid Casey Janssen (R)–Recorded his 22nd save of the season Thursday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Janssen has been on the decline over the last few weeks of the season, so it was nice to see him record a perfect frame to lock down the save. 15 PC-9 ST (8/15/13) (SU) Brett Cecil (L)--Pitched two innings of scoreless relief on Sunday retiring all five batters he faced in order on 20 pitches thrown. Cecil has been shaky at best since the All-Star break, but in holds leagues he is still worth owning, especially in deep league formats. 20 PC-14 ST (8/18/13) (MR) Aaron Loup (L)--Took the loss on Friday after surrendering one run on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. Bell has now pitched three innings over the last two days, so expect him to get the day off on Monday. 27 PC-19 ST (8/18/13) (MR) J.J. Putz (R)--Earned his sixth save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless 16th inning allowing two walks while striking out two batters on 21 pitches thrown. The Diamondbacks were down to their last reliever, so this is no indication that the team has made a switch as to who is closing for them moving forward. 21 PC-10 ST (8/18/13) Injured: Matt Reynolds (Elbow)Atlanta Braves(CL) Elite Craig Kimbrel (R)–Recorded his 39th save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit while striking out three batters on 14 pitches thrown. Kimbrel continues to dominate the final frame this season, and is now on pace to finish the season stronger than his previous two seasons. 14 PC-11 ST (8/18/13) (SU)  Jordan Walden (R)--Earned his 14th hold of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Walden was roughed up his previous two outings, so it was nice to see him get back on track in this one. 12 PC-7 ST (8/18/13) (MR) Scott Downs (L)--Earned his second hold as a member of the Braves Sunday despite allowing one run on one hit and one walk in the seventh inning. Downs has now pitched three consecutive days, so even with a scheduled day off on Monday, he may get an additional day off from pitching. 12 PC-6 ST (8/18/13) Injured– Jonny Venters (Elbow),  Eric O’Flaherty (Elbow)Chicago Cubs(CL) Shaky Kevin Gregg (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order on six pitches thrown. Gregg worked quickly through his appearance, forcing three ground ball outs to keep the Cubs in contention. 6 PC-4 ST (8/18/13) (SU) Pedro Strop (R)--Pitched 1.2 innings of relief on Tuesday night allowing one walk while striking out one batter on 16 pitches thrown. Ramos (R)--Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Saturday surrendering two runs on three hits in the eighth inning. Ramos has now allowed four runs over his last three appearances, so hopefully he will be able to turn the corner his next time out. 24 PC-12 ST (8/17/13)Milwaukee Brewers(CL) Solid Jim Henderson (R)--Earned his 18th hold of the season Saturday after striking out the side in the ninth inning. Axford has not been pitching well as of late, so it was nice to see him get back on track in this contest. 16 PC-13 ST (8/16/13) (MR) Brandon Kintzler (R)--Earned his 15th hold of the season Saturday after pitching 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Kintzler needed only 13 pitches to work through the appearance, forcing four ground ball outs while striking out one batter to get the job done. 13 PC-10 ST (8/17/13)New York Mets(CL) Shaky LaTroy Hawkins (R)--Recorded his fourth save of the season Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 17 pitches thrown. Hawkins bounced back nicely from a poor showing last time out and should continue to be used in the closer role with Bobby Parnell out of action. 17 PC-12 ST (8/16/13) (SU) David Aardsma (R)--Took the loss on Saturday night after surrendering four runs on six hits and two walks over two innings of relief. Aardsma threw 54 pitches in the appearance, so expect him to get a few days following this disaster of an outing. 54 PC-36 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Scott Rice (L)--Earned his 14th hold of the season Sunday after recording the first two outs of the seventh inning. This was Casilla's first slip up since returning from injury, so don't look too much into this outing. 24 PC-15 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Javier Lopez (L)--Was used to record the second out of the seventh inning on Sunday needing out three pitches to force the only batter he faced to fly out. This was Lopez's first appearance since Thursday, so expect to see much more of him over the next few days. 3 PC-2 ST (8/18/13) Injured-- Jeremy AffeldtSt. Louis Cardinals(CL) Elite Edward Mujica (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Thursday afternoon in a non-save situation allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter on 24 pitches thrown. Mujica has pitched multiple innings in three straight appearances, showing the versatility that makes him one of the best relievers in all of baseball. 24 PC-16 ST (8/15/13) (SU) Trevor Rosenthal (R)--Recorded the final two outs of the game on Sunday in a non-save situation allowing two walks while striking out one batter on 27 pitches thrown. Rosenthal is starting to show signs of slowing down after a lot of innings this season, so those in holds leagues will want to monitor his production over the next few weeks heading into playoffs. 27 PC-16 ST (8/18/13) (MR) Randy Choate (L)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday allowing one hit on 10 pitches thrown. Choate continues to get the job done for the Cardinals, having recorded three scoreless relief appearances over the last four days. 10 PC-8 ST (8/17/13) Injured– Jason Motte (Elbow), Fernando Salas (Shoulder)Washington Nationals(CL) Solid Rafael Soriano (R)--Was charged with his sixth blown-save on Saturday after surrendering two runs on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. Soriano has now blown saves in back-to-back appearances, and has allowed six runs over his last three outings, so maybe some tim eoff to clear his head in in store. 19 PC-13 ST (8/17/13) (SU) Tyler Clippard (R)--Earned his 25th hold of the season Saturday despite surrendering one run on one hit in the eighth inning. Clippard needed only nine pitches to work through the frame, forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out to get the job done. 9 PC-8 ST (8/17/13) (MR) Drew Storen (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday retiring all three batters he faced in order on only five pitches thrown.
