Despite not allowing a run, Tazawa was charged with his fourth blown-save, so his outing wasn't as good as the box score may indicate. 22 PC-18 ST (7/21/13) (MR) Matt Thornton (L)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. This appearance was his first since the All Star break, so it appears to extra rest did not allow him to get rusty. 12 PC-9 ST (7/21/13) (SU) Joe Smith (R)--Took the loss on Friday night after allowing one run on three hits and one walk in the eighth inning. With this appearance Smith fell to 4-1 on the season in what was definitely not the way he wanted to start the second half. 24 PC-15 ST (7/19/13) (MR) Vinny Pestano (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Pestano needed 15 pitches to work through the appearance in what was a great appearance coming off the All Star break. 12 PC-9 ST (7/20/13)Detroit Tigers(CL) Solid Joaquin Benoit (R)–Recorded his ninth save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit on 12 pitches thrown. Benoit looked sharp in his first appearance since the All Star break, so hopefully he will continue his great season moving forward. 12 PC-8 ST (7/21/13) (SU) Bruce Rondon (R)--Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Monday night allowing one run on one hit while striking out one batter on 12 pitches thrown. Alburquerque has not been pitching well as of late having surrendered six runs over his last three appearances, so hopefully he can turn things around int he second half so he cam remain in the Tigers bullpen. 22 PC-15 ST (7/13/13) Injured– Octavio Dotel (Shoulder)Houston Astros(CL) Solid Jose Veras (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. Veras needed only 14 pitches to work through the frame forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out while striking out one batter. 14 PC-9 ST (7/20/13) (SU) Hector Ambriz (R)--Earned his 13th hold of the season Monday night despite allowing one run on one hit in the seventh inning. Ambriz has been far from great this season, but should continue to get a chance to improve considering the Astros don't have much to offer in their bullpen right now. 11 PC-6 ST (7/22/13) (MR) Wesley Wright (L)–Took the loss on Monday night after allowing one run on one hit in one inning of relief. It wasn't the cleanest of outings, but at least he escape without allowing any runs. 17 PC-8 ST (7/20/13) (MR) Tim Collins (L)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Monday night in a non-save situation allowing two hits on 18 pitches thrown. Collins got himself into a jam, but was able to work through it forcing one fly ball out while striking out two batters to stop the bleeding. 18 PC-13 ST (7/22/13)Los Angeles Angels(CL) Solid Ernesto Frieri (R)–Collected his 24th save of the season Saturday night after recording the final two outs of the ninth inning. Frieri has now pitched back-to-back days, but that has never stopped him from being used for the third straight day, so expect him to be available on Sunday. 13 PC-9 ST (7/20/13) (MR) Kevin Jepsen (R)--Pitched a scoreless sixth inning on Monday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Perkins got himself into a jam, but was able to work his way through it and escape unharmed. 26 PC-17 ST (7/22/13) (SU) Casey Fien (R)--Picked up his 12th hold of the season Monday despite allowing one run on two hits in the eighth inning. He was only used to get the first two outs of the frame, needed 16 pitches to get the job done. 16 PC-11 ST (7/22/13) (MR) Jared Burton (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Sunday allowing one hit on only 11 pitches thrown. After a few rough weeks, Burton has turned things around and has now put together three straight scoreless relief appearances. 11 PC-7 ST (7/14/13)New York Yankees(CL) Elite Mariano Rivera (R)–Recorded his 31st save of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit while striking out two batters on 16 pitches thrown. Rivera has not been striking out many batters this season, so it was nice to see him record two strikeouts for his fantasy owners. 16 PC-11 ST (7/20/13) (SU) David Robertson (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday night allowing one hit and one walk on 17 pitches thrown. Robertson has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to get the night off on Monday. 17 PC-11 ST (7/21/13) (MR) Boone Logan (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Sunday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Logan struck out the side on only 14 pitches in the appearance, which is not an easy task going up against the Red Sox. 14 PC-11 ST (7/21/13)Oakland Athletics(CL) Elite Grant Balfour (R)–Recorded his 26th save of the season Monday night after pitching yet another scoreless ninth inning. Balfour retired all three batters he faced in order forcing one fly ball out while striking out two batters to extend his team best saves streak to 44 straight saves, dating back to last season. 13 PC-11 ST (7/22/13) (SU) Ryan Cook (R)--Picked u p the win on Monday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. This was his first outing of the second half and he failed to disappoint anyone that is holding onto him in deep holds leagues. 11 PC-8 ST (7/22/13) (MR) Sean Doolittle (L)–Earned his 14th hold of the season Monday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one walk while striking out two batters on 21 pitches thrown. After a rough ending to the first half, Doolittle has now put together two solid appearances over the last few days as he is starting to shape back into the pitcher we saw early in the season. 21 PC-13 ST (7/22/13)Seattle Mariners(CL) Shaky Tom Wilhelmsen (R)--Recorded his 22nd save of the season Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit and one walk on 23 pitches thrown. Wilhelmsen has now pitched three of the last four days, so there is a chance he will be given the day off on Tuesday, so plan accordingly. 23 PC-11 ST (7/22/13) (SU) Oliver Perez (L)--Pitched 1.2 innings of relief on Thursday allowing one walk while striking out three batters. Perez threw 30 pitches in the appearance, and has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to get the day off on Friday. 30 PC-20 ST (7/11/13) (MR)  Charlie Furbush (L)--Picked up his 10th hold of the season Monday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Peralta has now pitched back-to-back days, so there is a chance he will be given the day off on Sunday. 19 PC-10 ST (7/20/13) (MR) Jake McGee (L)--Pitched one inning of relief on Friday night allowing one run on one hit while striking out one batter on 19 pitches thrown. Rosenthal needed 21 pitches to work through the frame, forcing two ground ball outs and one fly ball out while striking out one batter to get the job done. 21 PC-16 ST (7/20/13) (MR) Randy Choate (L)--Picked up his 10th hold of the season Sunday after recording only one out in the seventh inning. Choate threw just seven pitches in the appearance forcing one ground ball out to get the job done. 7 PC-5 ST (7/14/13) Injured– Jason Motte (Elbow), Fernando Salas (Shoulder)Washington Nationals(CL) Solid Rafael Soriano (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 18 pitches thrown. Soriano has now been used in both games since the All Star break, but should still be available Sunday considering he pitches three straight days often. 18 PC-13 ST (7/20/13) (SU) Drew Storen (R)--Pitched 0.2 innings of relief on Monday night allowing one walk on 14 pitches thrown. Although this wasn't the best showing from Storen at least he was able to escape without allowing any runs, like he did in his last appearance. 14 PC-7 ST (7/22/13) (SU) Tyler Clippard (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 23 pitches thrown.
