We’re still all reeling over Mike Trout’s injury and trying to find somewhat of a replacement, but it’s impossible to replicate his production. Instead, look for guys that will help keep your team afloat while he’s out. We will try and help you do so here!

10-team leagues

J.A. Happ, TOR SP (61% ownership), FAAB Bid - $20This is a no-brainer and there’s no way he’ll be 61-percent owned for much longer. Let’s not be quick to forget that Happ was a 20-game winner in 2016. Happ isn’t a big strikeout guy, but last year he held opponents to a .230 AVG and a .291 wOBA. He lasted four innings in his first start back and threw 81 pitches. The next time out his pitch-count should be elevated and we should begin to see Happ go deeper into games. Grab him NOW!

Jimmy Nelson, MIL SP (25% ownership), FAAB Bid - $15 Whatever has gotten into Nelson, we want some of it too. Nelson has been on a tear lately, specifically over his last two outings where he’s struck out 21 batters over 15 innings. Nelson has especially been tough on lefties, allowing a mere .259 wOBA and a 29.7-percent K rate against them. Nelson actually matched Clayton Kershaw pitch-for-pitch on Friday night and should have actually ended up with a win if his closer didn’t blow the game.

Eric Young Jr., LAA OF (1% ownership), FAAB Bid - $12 We didn’t add Young Jr. to our article Wednesday because we wanted to wait and see how he’d perform first. He’s now 32-years old and has been around for a while, so his .247 career AVG is who he is. That being said, Young has come out Guns blazing hitting .319 with a home run and two stolen bases. Young’s never hit more than four home runs in a season so the power isn’t something we should get used too, but his speed is real.

12-team leagues

Hunter Pence, SF OF (49% ownership), FAAB Bid - $11 – We’re not going to get too crazy with Pence, and we definitely suggest being cautious when giving him a look in 10-team formats. His lucrative injury history will scare a lot of people away, but his production when healthy is something worth taking a risk on. Pence had a 33-percent hard-contact rate before his injury, so we should expect some of his batted balls to find more holes, which subsequently will pick up his average.

Trevor Bauer, CLE SP (45% ownership), FAAB Bid - $8 We know, we know. Here we go again, believing in Bauer after one good start. But that’s where you’re wrong. He has allowed three ER or less in four straight starts and has struck out six or more in each start. Bauer is on an insane strikeout kick this year, striking out 73 batters in 57 innings for a massive 11.5 K/9 rate. His career-mark is 8.6 so this start could be a bit of an anomaly, but he’s shown no signs of letting up. The 6.00 ERA is ugly, but his 3.98 FIP doesn’t matchup and shows that the ERA will decline going forward. Show Bauer a little faith and pick him up in all 12-team formats.

Joe Mauer, MIN 1B (5% ownership), FAAB Bid - $5 There is absolutely nothing flashy about this add, but Mauer has been raking over the last two weeks. During that timeframe he has hit .395 with two home runs and nine RBI. He’s been especially good with two strikes over the last 14 days, posting an unheard of .391 well-hit average, tops in baseball. 87-percent of the contact he made in May was either medium or hard. He continues hitting the middle of a really good Twins lineup and will be put in plenty of run producing situations going forward.

15-team leagues

Gerardo Parra, COL OF (13% ownership), FAAB Bid - $3 To say the Rockies outfield is crowded is an understatement, so owning Parra in deep leagues is the ideal spot for him. It’ll only get more crowded when David Dahl eventually returns from injury too. Over the last 14 days alone, Parra is hitting .500. Yes, .500. He’s slugging .857 over that same time period while posting a ludicrous 1.324 OPS. Maybe the most impressive stat of all is his .455 AVG with RISP, ranking him second in all of baseball in that category. It remains to be seen what will transpire for Parra when Dahl comes back, but he’s worth owning in 15-team leagues as of now.

Keone Kela, TEX RP (20% ownership), FAAB Bid - $2 This add is a shot in the dark, and yes, we’ve already gone down this road before. However, Sam Dyson has been DFA’d and now Kela is the lone setup man in Texas. Kela has six straight scoreless outings and has two holds, one save and one win over that period of time. Matt Bush blew his second save, so his job is less secure now. With the way Kela has pitched, he’s hot on Bush's heels.
