10-Team Leagues
Nick Castellanos, DET 3B, OF (62% ownership), FAAB Bid - $16 - Castellanos is riding a 16-game hit streak and has at least one knock in 20-of-21. He’s recently gained eligibility in the OF as well, so he’s extremely valuable. Castellanos has 11 multi-hit games in 18 September contests including 12 extra-base hits and 16 RBI. He checks off all the boxes for someone you want to help you wain a fantasy baseball championship.
Yoan Moncada, CWS 2B, 3B (46% ownership), FAAB Bid - $15 - This is a redraft league pickup only since he’s definitely 100-percent owned in Dynasty formats. Moncada has been everything he’s been advertised as and more. Over the last two weeks he’s hit .302 with three homers and seven RBI while chipping in in the stolen base category. Moncada is hitting at the top of the White Sox order, producing and has multi-position eligibility. He’s a must own now that most leagues are into their postseasons.
Garrett Richards, LAA SP (50% ownership), FAAB Bid - $13 - Richards made just three starts but has begun to build his pitch count up and is flashing signs of how good he was prior to his injury. Richards struck out seven over five innings his last time out, boosting his K-rate to 25.7-percent, which would be a career-high. There’s a reason Richards has kept an xFIP of 3.91 or better since 2013.
12-Team Leagues
Asdrubal Cabrera, NYM 2B, SS, 3B (26% ownership), FAAB Bid - $12-13 - Cabrera has been abusing opposing pitching over the last two weeks, hitting .528 with a homer and six RBI. He’s slashed .423/.475/.750 this month alone, notching a .502 wOBA at the same time. Cabrera can be slotted in three different positions, so he’s definitely worth the add for the stretch run.
Jose Martinez, STL 1B, OF (30% ownership), FAAB Bid - $11 - You probably don’t have much FAAB money left, but Martinez is worth the price of admission. He’s settled in nicely as an everyday player and is hitting .310 for the season. As a matter of fact, he’s even improved on that number over the past two weeks hitting .356. Not only that, but he’s hitting for power and being a solid run producer hitting two homers and driving in nine over that same span. Being unowned in over 70-percent of Yahoo leagues at this point is silly. Grab him for your playoff run. He’d fit nicely as your OF3, CI or UTIL man.
Daniel Mengden, OAK SP (8% ownership), FAAB Bid - $7 - If you’ve taken notice in the past couple of weeks, Mengden has been lights out. He threw his first ever complete game shut out of his career in his last start and now gets a matchup against Detroit. Detroit has been awful against right-handed pitching since unloading at the trade deadline. If you’re looking to stream pitchers at this point, Mengden is a very strong option.
15-Team Leagues
Christian Vazquez, BOS C (16% ownership), FAAB Bid -$4 - Fortunately for us, there is still a catcher available in 84-percent of Yahoo leagues that is worth picking up. Vazquez has become the head honcho behind the plate for Boston and has responded nicely. He’s hit .400 over the past 14 days and .356 over the past 30. He’s swiped seven bags on the year so he could contribute in a category catchers rarely ever produce in if we’re lucky. If he doesn’t, we can still rely on the consistency he’s showed at the plate.
Dominic Smith, NYM 1B (8% ownership), FAAB Bid - $2 - Smith is without a doubt owned in all dynasty leagues, there hasn’t been much of a reason to until September. In September, Smith has slashed .279/.353/.557 with a .382 wOBA. He’s impressed with his batted ball skills as well, posting a 22.5-percent line drive and 40-percent hard hit rates. Smith’s playing everyday for the Mets and will continue to do for the remainder of the season. He’s a solid ROS pickup in NL-only leagues as well as deep 15-team formats as well.
Matt Boyd, DET SP (4% ownership), FAAB Bid - $1 - As much as it pains us to say, Boyd has been pretty consistent over the past 30 days. He was an out away from the league’s second no-hitter of the season and he’s had three starts of one earned run or less in three of his last four contests. Boyd’s blow up potential limits him to 15-team leagues only.
