Miguel Rojas MLB Chalkboard Fantasy Pick: Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI

Baltimore Orioles starter Trevor Rogers has endured a difficult season so far. The left-hander has posted a 5.86 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 13 starts for the O’s. Things only get tougher tonight as he draws a road matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers’ loaded offense. 

Given Rogers’ struggles, there’s a strong possibility he surrenders several runs in this spot. That creates an appealing opportunity to target a Dodgers hitter. Of course, we have the obvious choices. Miguel Rojas, though, could fly under the radar. 

Rojas has excelled against left-handed pitching this season, hitting .306 with an .845 OPS. He’s also batting .345 with an .873 OPS at home. The veteran shortstop is expected to be in the starting lineup today, as he typically gets the nod against southpaws. On the other side, Rogers has had issues against right-handed batters, allowing a .299 average and .834 OPS in the split. 

 

Freddy Peralta MLB Chalkboard Fantasy Pick: Over 5.5 Strikeouts

Freddy Peralta hasn’t quiet met expectations in his first season with the New York Mets, posting a 3.90 ERA through 15 starts. His 22.7% strikeout rate is also on pace to be a career low. Despite those numbers, this matchup sets up well for him to record six or more strikeouts.

The Philadelphia Phillies have struggled to make consistent contact against right-handed pitching all season. They own a 23.5% strikeout rate in the split, which is the fourth-highest mark in baseball. Those issues have worsened recently, as the Phils carry a league-high 29.0% strikeout rate against righties over the last two weeks. 

That makes this an appealing spot to back opposing starters and their strikeout props. Though Peralta’s K upside has been lowe this year, he’s still recorded five or more strikeouts in 11 of his 15 starts this season. He’s also been effective on the road, with a 2.79 ERA across five outings. Furthermore, the Philadelphia lineup is batting just .155 against Peralta collectively.
