Padres vs. Mariners Predictions:

Its an interleague matchup tonight in Seattle as the Mariners host the Padres for the second game of this weekend series and I like the spot for the home team! Logan Gilbert will take the mound against a struggling Padres offense as Walker Buehler will head out for the Padres against a bevy of big hitters. 

The first thing to check out has been the strikeout rate for San Diego over the past couple of weeks. They rank second in the majors with a 26.1% strikeout rate and their team isolated power mark has fallen to .120, all of these numbers are terrible. Gilbert is in a prime matchup working with those kind of numbers as he has improved his ERA tremendously since the start of the season and he has 17 strikeouts over his last 17 innings pitched. His line is 6.5 in the strikeout markets today and while its a tight number given his track record I am going to take the over at plus money. 

In addition to that prop, I am going to take the Mariners to win against Walker Buehler this evening as well. The Padres starter has an ERA over 5 since the start of April and he's struggled against lefties allowing a .375 OBP and the Mariners have those kind of hitters in spades. Mariners on the Money Line while chalky is a the right move tonight.

Orioles vs. Nationals Predictions:

The Battle of the Beltway writes a new chapter tonight as the Orioles play visitor to the Nationals once again after last night's highly popularized hot dog night and a win for the home team. 

Chris Bassitt takes the mound for Baltimore today and that's bad news for them as on the road this season he's been a gas can allowing an ERA of 8.27 and an OBA of .358! Those kind of numbers will immediately draw one to batter's props for the Nationals and that's just what I'm betting on. 

James Wood has cooled off a bit in May hitting just .224 but he still has four doubles and a pair of home runs over the past two weeks. He's a lefty bat too, something Bassitt has struggled with this season allowing a .959 OPS to that side of the plate. Wood in his own right has hit nine of his 12 homers this season against right handed pitching so it seems like something must give here today. Give me Wood to hit over 1.5 total bases today as he rights the ship at least for this game.
