Rockies vs. Phillies Predictions: Sunday, May 10th

The month of April was cruel to the Phillies, but they’ve played much better baseball of late and today their ace takes the bump in Cristopher Sanchez. The series has seen each team win in a lopsided effort and today is the rubber match, let’s get into the numbers.

The biggest number I am tracking today is the strikeout rate over the past two weeks for the Rockies. 27% K-rate is the position for Colorado heading into today and that’s the highest rate in MLB during that time! Sanchez also holds a Whiff rate of 32.1% which is the seventh-best mark in the majors and a 50.5% swing percentage. In simple terms, this data tells me that Sanchez is mowing down batters and his pitches are generating a lot of swings and misses. For that reason, I will start this best bets article with Sanchez to go over 7.5 strikeouts this afternoon.

We have a pitcher prop, so now let’s go ahead and add a hitter’s prop. I am targeting Tomoyuki Sugano as I don’t buy his numbers thus far in the season with the 3.41 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. In fact, you shouldn’t buy what he’s selling as his expected numbers are all much higher than actual statistics right now. He holds a .281 xBA compared to the actual .225 BA and his wOBA is .308 but the xwOBA is .383! The slide is underway for Sugano, the numbers will catch up to him. That’s why I will throwing money behind Bryce Harper today to go over his hits/runs/RBIs prop as he has 20 total bases over the last seven games and is hitting .429 with a 1.491 OPS. The man is red hot so let’s ride that train.
