New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies Predictions: Tuesday, September 9th

As the National League East crown slips further away from the Mets, they’ll still try to make up ground tonight in their matchup with the Phillies. It may be a tough task with Sean Manaea on the bump, but let’s dive into the matchup regardless!

Manaea has been horrible in his last 6 starts dating back to the start of August, allowing 24 earned runs over the last 27.2 innings pitched, which also included 36 hits and a poor showing in OBA at around .300. That’s bad news in a matchup against a Phillies team that has a .183 isolated power mark and a .316 team BABIP over the past 30 days! They also don’t strike out much, as they rank at 21.1% in their K-rate, which is 9th-fewest in MLB during the past month. Manaea relies a lot on strikeouts to get outs on the mound, so his day is projected to be a brutal one.

On the other end of the pitching matchup is Ranger Suarez, and while his overall season ERA is great at 2.89, his numbers have been swelling up in the past month. He has a 4.10 ERA in August and gave up 40 hits over the course of 37.1 innings pitched. He, too, relies on strikeouts to sit down opposing batters. The Mets are holding a K-rate of just 19.7% in the past 30 days, so that avenue will be tricky for him. New York also holds the 2nd-best isolated power mark in baseball at .230 during that same time span.

If you haven’t pieced it together by now, I like the over in tonight’s game as it stands at just 8 runs currently, so let’s go ahead and hammer that one!

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Seattle Mariners Predictions: Tuesday, September 9th

The next game to highlight for my best bets is an interleague matchup between the Cardinals and Mariners tonight, and it's looking awfully lopsided! Between the pitching matchup and the lineups, this one is wide open for some wagers, so let’s check them out.

St. Louis has been falling off hard this summer after starting off great, but that was to be expected, looking through their roster. Now it's all crumbling, and it should continue tonight as they go against George Kirby, who has been locked down at home. In 9 games started at home, Kirby has pitched 51.1 innings while allowing just 18 earned runs and has racked up 47 strikeouts in the process. The Cardinals' offense ranks 3rd in K-rate over the past 2 weeks at 27.7% so right away there’s a bet to take advantage of! His prop is 5.5, so let’s go ahead and lock that one in and get to the next wager.

The next pick is against the Cardinals in general, who are sending out Matthew Liberatore and his ERA of over 5 in the past 7 starts. The home runs have gone up with 6 allowed in those starts, and the hits given up sit at 34 over the past 32 innings pitched. Being a south paw won’t help him tonight either, as the Mariners currently hold an isolated power mark of .209, 3rd best in MLB in the past month. Seattle also has a team BABIP of .295 on the season against lefty pitching, and their stars like Cal Raleigh, Randy Arozarena, Julio Rodriguez, and Jorge Polanco all hit in the .260s or better against those arms. Give me the Mariners in a big way tonight on the Run Line, please!
