Now, let's dive into my expert MLB Best Bets today!

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction: Wednesday, September 3rd

Game 2 of this cross-country series is underway tonight as the Dodgers lost the opening game to the suddenly frisky Pirates! The script should flip today, though, so Shohei Ohtani will be on the mound, and that’s bad news for the Pirates' lineup!

Ohtani is still ramping up to full starts, and that’s good for the Dodgers. In his last 4 starts, he’s pitched at least 4 innings, and he’s looking good in the process. In 17.1 innings of work, he has collected 27 strikeouts, and the Pirates as a team are punching out 24% of the time, which ranks 9th most in MLB over the past 2 weeks. This sets up Ohtani for a big swing and a miss narrative on the mound tonight, and I feel that his over on strikeouts is more than worthy of a wager for this article!

In addition to that wager, I like a side on the game total as well! The Dodgers' offense has been very meh the last two weeks, with a BABIP of .253 and an isolated power mark of .183. They’ll go against Braxton Ashcraft, who has pitched very well out of the bullpen lately, and the whole Pirates pitching staff has been lockdown too, allowing just 19 runs over the past 5 games. I think this game holds more steady tonight, and the under is the play to make with good pitching on both sides going tonight.

Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals Prediction: Wednesday, September 3rd

The Marlins and Nationals matchup may not be a sexy one, but it's got some great angles to wager on! Mitchell Parker is one of the worst pitchers in MLB right now, so we must find a way to fade him. Let’s dive in!

Parker, who is on the mound for the Nationals today, is a joke right now, as he was holding down a 10.21 ERA in August. In this time period, he also allowed 36 hits, 11 walks, and 9 home runs over the course of 27.1 innings pitched! I realize the Marlins aren’t the greatest team, but they will prevail against Parker, no doubt.

Eury Perez will be on the other side of things for the Marlins, and outside of a blow-up outing against the Mets last week, he’s been solid. Just 20 hits allowed over 27.1 innings, and he’s holding down a 1.04 WHIP overall on the season. The Marlins' offense should be able to exploit Parker, and Perez will keep things together so that Miami avoids the sweep today and leaves the nation’s capital this afternoon with a win on the Money Line.
