Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks Predictions: Thursday, September 25th

This week’s series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks has been a fun one so far. It wraps up today with an intriguing starting pitching matchup of Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Zac Gallen. Let’s get some action on this Wednesday afternoon showdown between NL West rivals.

Yamamoto has been nearly unhittable lately. The Dodgers’ right-hander has allowed exactly 1 hit in 3 straight starts, with 27 strikeouts over this stretch. He also boasts a 1.76 ERA over his past 6 outings and a 2.30 ERA over his past 11 starts.

The Diamondbacks present a tough matchup on the road, but Yamamoto should be up to the task. He boasts a 2.26 ERA and 2.82 FIP across his 17 road starts this year. He also just faced Arizona in late August and tossed 7 strong innings, striking out 10 and allowing only 1 run.

On the other side, Gallen can also quiet the Dodgers’ bats. The right-hander has pitched well over the past two months, boasting a 2.82 ERA over his last 10 starts. That includes an excellent 2.19 ERA over his past 6 home outings. He also just threw 6 scoreless innings against LA last month.

Let’s take the under in the first five innings. Yamamoto and Gallen can both limit the damage early on. The Arizona and Los Angeles bullpens are equally untrustworthy right now, though, so avoid the full game under.

White Sox vs. Yankees Predictions: Thursday, September 25th

After winning again last night, the New York Yankees are now tied atop the AL East standings with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yanks are now 7-1 in their last 8 games and 21-8 over the past month. Let’s back them to stay hot and complete the sweep against the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night.

Carlos Rodon gets the start for New York today, and he’s been dealing lately. He owns a 2.17 ERA over his last 8 starts and a 2.67 ERA over his past 13 starts. The southpaw has also allowed 2 or fewer runs in 9 straight outings now.

Rodon should limit the White Sox at home here. Chicago’s offense has just a .274 wOBA and 73 wRC+ against left-handed pitching in September. Plus, Rodon owns a 2.74 ERA at home this season. That includes a 2.25 ERA over his past 5 home starts.

Meanwhile, the Yankees’ lineup will face White Sox starter Davis Martin. The righty has a 4.03 ERA and 1.27 WHIP this season. He’s been shaky recently with a 4.50 ERA over his past 5 starts. One of those outings came against the Yankees, when Martin allowed 4 runs over 3.2 innings.

This is a tough road start for Martin, who has a 4.37 ERA and 4.86 FIP since the All-Star break. The Yankees are hammering right-handed pitching over the past two weeks with a .358 wOBA (4th in MLB), 133 wRC+ (3rd), .826 OPS (6th), and .288 BA (2nd). New York is also averaging 6.6 runs over the past 8 games.

Let’s back the Yankees on the runline. The White Sox are now 1-10 in their last 11 games, with 7 of those losses coming by 2+ runs. Meanwhile, 9 of New York’s last 10 wins have come by multiple runs.
