Reds vs. Pirates Predictions

Game number 2 of this 4-game weekend series gets underway this afternoon, and after another vintage Paul Skenes start, it may be time for the Reds to respond! Chase Burns vs. Mitch Keller on the mound should be a good one. Let’s dive into the numbers.

It's no secret that the youngster Chase Burns has had his struggles allowing hits and runs with his 6.04 ERA on the season, but one thing he’s consistent with is fanning opposing bats. Over the course of 28.1 innings pitched, he has a massive 47 strikeouts and the Pirates have a team K-rate of 23.6% dating back to July 1st, the 8th highest mark in MLB. I could really see Burns mowing down some batters today given these trends, and at 7.5 strikeouts, I will bet on that over all day long!

On the other side of the matchup, it's Mitch Keller going for the Pirates, and he’s had a nice summer, allowing just 14 earned runs over the course of 32.2 innings pitched with 31 hits allowed and 27 strikeouts. The Pirates have also won 5 of their last 6 starts, and I think that continues today as Pittsburgh is over .500 at home and has won 6 of the last 10 games while the Reds aren’t quite up to par on the road and are in a bit of a slump, so Pirates on the Money Line tonight.
