MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 8/15
Rangers vs. Blue Jays Predictions
It’s a matchup between two teams that have been surging up the standings this season as the Rangers head north of the border to take on the Blue Jays! Going to be a fun watch with Jacob deGrom going against Chris Bassitt, so let’s dive into the bets.Â
To kick things off, Jacob deGrom playing nearly a full season healthy is awesome, but the layoff of baseball over the years seems to be causing some fatigue as he’s rocking an ERA of over 5 since the start of July. This is over 7 starts, mind you, so the sample size is large enough, but he’s given up 34 hits on 40 innings pitched with 10 walks. The Strikeouts are still good at 49 during that stretch, but the ball is going to be in play today as the Blue Jays over the past 2 weeks are striking out 18% as a team, and their BABIP is .322!
On the other side of the matchup, Chris Bassitt continues to consistently play his game, not many strikeouts to it, but that’s okay against a team like the Rangers that has an ISO of .130 and a BABIP of just .272. It means that he will put the ball in play, but the danger of the Texas bats is normally minimal. The Rangers also score just 4.22 runs per game on the road this season, while the Blue Jays have a 40-20 record at home and score 5.13 runs per game.Â
It's Blue Jays on the Money Line tonight and the under on the deGrom strikeout prop as the wagers for me in this game.Â
- Pick: Blue Jays Money Line (-110 on DraftKings)
- Pick: Jacob deGrom (NYM) Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-140 on DraftKings)

Marlins vs. Red Sox Predictions
I would have never thought that Rafael Devers being shown the door would be a good thing for Boston, but man, are they cooking right now! In the month of August, they’ve won 7 of 11 games thus far and in the process have posted 68 total runs! The good times should continue to roll tonight as well, as the Marlins are in town for the weekend and the husk of Sandy Alcantara is on the mound for them.Â
Alcantara has had a rough year in his return from injury, to say the least, with his 6.55 ERA on the season, and more recently in August, he’s given up 11 earned runs over 12 innings with 5 walks and just 9 strikeouts. Not a good stat line against a Red Sox offense that’s posting big numbers and has a .308 BABIP since the start of August. I think Boston loads up on the runs today and tops their total of 4.5 team runs.Â
In addition to the team, I like the spot for Alex Bregman today, as Alcantara has really struggled against righties this season. Bregman, since his return from injury, has been great too, and over the last 6 games, he’s hitting .348 with a 1.160 OPS as well! I think he tops his hits/runs/RBIs prop tonight, so lay that wager down as well. Â
- Pick: Red Sox Over 4.5 Team Total Runs (-115 on DraftKings)
- Pick: Alex Bregman (BOS) Over 2.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (+120 on DraftKings)
