MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 7/7

Blue Jays vs. White Sox Predictions

It's been a hell of a summer for the Blue Jays as they sit atop the AL East as we move into the final week before the All-Star break! It's been thanks to timely hitting and great pitching, and most of it is on the shoulders of Jose Berrios, who had a tremendous June. How do Berrios and the Blue Jays stack up today? Let’s dig in!

Berrios is on the hill today for Toronto, and that’s a great thing for them as he held down a 1.97 ERA in the month of June but did have a hiccup last week against the Yankees, allowing 6 earned runs on 4.1 innings pitched. The White Sox are a much less intimidating offense, though, scoring just 3.46 runs per game this season. They also strike out quite often, as since the start of June, they’ve punched out 24.1% of the time, which is the 6th most in MLB. Their isolated power numbers are also rather low, and .129, so the extra base hits just aren’t happening. Berrios should have a good shot at topping his strikeout number tonight, given these trends, so over 4.5 strikeouts will be my first wager from this game. 

In addition to backing Berrios, I love the Blue Jays' momentum right now overall! They’ve catapulted up the standings and have won 9 of their last 10 games, which include sweeps of the Yankees and Angels, where they posted 49 runs over those 7 games. It's hard to see a White Sox team that is 30-60 on the season keeping up with them here, so give me the Blue Jays on the Run Line to take care of business tonight.
