MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 6/20
Orioles vs. Yankees Predictions
It's an AL East clash this weekend as the Orioles head to the Bronx to take on the Yankees! Both teams have bats that can score, but that hasn’t been the case most of the season for Baltimore, and lately, the Yankees' offense has gone cold; those trends could continue tonight, so let’s dive into the matchup.Â
Max Fried will start for the Yankees, and he’s been nothing short of an ace this season with a 1.8 ERA over his past 3 starts, allowing just 13 hits and 4 runs over the last 20 innings pitched! He will get to throw against a Baltimore team that has a team strikeout rate of 25.3% against lefties this season and an isolated power number of only .086, and that’s the lowest rate in the league! In addition to those struggles, they average just 3.69 runs per game on the road this season, which is the 5th-fewest runs in MLB. Needless to say, Fried is going to feast today, and with 20 strikeouts over his last 3 starts, he should top his K prop of 6.5 punchouts tonight.Â
More on the lack of offense, though, as the Yankees have really struggled over the past 7 days, scoring a total of 13 runs! They busted out of the slump a bit in their last game over the Angels, but those numbers are concerning. Tomoyuki Sugano will pitch for the Orioles, and it should be a good outing for him as he’s holding down an ERA of 3.38 on the season with a WHIP of 1.14. Not saying he will outpitch Fried, but he will play well, and for that reason, the total of 9 runs is just way too high for me tonight, so I will take the under given the matchup trends.Â
Pick: Max Fried (NYY) Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-110 on DraftKings)
Pick: Orioles & Yankees Under 9 Runs (-105 on DraftKings)

Diamondbacks vs. Rockies Predictions
Nothing like a series in Coors Field to kick off a weekend as the Diamondbacks take on their NL West rivals, the Rockies! As with any game in the elevation, expect the runs to flow, but especially today as the weather is expected to reach the upper 90s, so the ball will be FLYING!
Austin Gomber will make his second start of the season tonight, and the first start went very well, but if you know this pitcher, then you know he’s as inconsistent as they come, and he really has struggled against right-handed hitters over the years. That’s where Lourdes Gurriel Jr. comes into play for me as he’s hit lefty pitching well this season, and over the past 7 days, he’s got an OBP of .348! He doesn’t have power, but he does get on base, and that’s huge, batting around guys like Corbin Carroll and Eugenio Suarez who can hit dingers. I like the Diamondbacks' left fielder to take advantage of his batting order placement tonight and over 2.5 hits/runs/RBIs.
More on the offense of the Diamondbacks, but they’ve always played Coors well, and their lineup is stacked with heavy-hitting righties to attack Gomber. On the other side of the matchup, Zac Gallen will pitch tonight, and he’s had a tough season with an ERA hanging around 5 throughout. I don’t expect good things for him tonight as the Rockies' offense has finally found its footing with 57 runs scored over their last 10 games. It should be a fireworks show with all these stats and trends coming together tonight, so give me the over on the game even at a whopping 11.5 runs.Â
Pick: Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (ARI) Over 2.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-120 on DraftKings)
Pick: Diamondbacks & Rockies Over 11.5 Runs (-120 on DraftKings)
