Reds vs. Guardians Predictions: Tuesday, June 10th
Let’s lead off our MLB picks today with an in-state rivalry matchup between the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Guardians. The Reds took yesterday’s series opener, 7-4, and have now won all four matchups against the Guardians so far this year. Can they keep it going on Tuesday night?Â
Reds starter Andrew Abbott is having a breakout season with a 2.18 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through 10 starts. He boasts a 27.6% strikeout rate (80th percentile) with just a .213 xBA (83rd) allowed. Plus, his elite 29.6% hard-hit rate allowed is in the top 4% of MLB starters right now.Â
The Cincinnati left-hander is coming off his worst start of the season, coughing up five runs to Milwaukee at home. Before that, though, Abbott allowed just two earned runs over his previous six starts combined. Let’s count on a bounce-back outing for a guy who’s been very consistent this year.Â
Abbott will face a Guardians offense that’s struggled vs. lefties this season with a .269 wOBA (26th in MLB), 72 wRC+ (24th), and 25.9% K rate (25th). Over the past two weeks, they’ve been even worse in the split with a .236 wOBA, 50 wRC+, and 30.2% K rate.Â
Meanwhile, Abbott has been lights out when pitching away from Cincy’s hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark. He has a 2.05 ERA and 2.38 FIP on the road with just a .156 BA and .227 wOBA allowed as well. The southpaw’s last two road outings saw seven shutout innings against the Cubs and five scoreless frames at Atlanta.Â
The Reds’ offense should provide run support against Cleveland starter Slade Cecconi. The right-hander has a shaky 4.87 ERA over four starts this season. His 7.03 xERA and 6.12 FIP are even worse. Cecconi has just a 4.85 ERA in three Triple-A starts this year as well. He hasn’t improved much from the guy who posted a 6.66 ERA with Arizona last season.Â
Cincinnati boasts a top-tier offense vs. right-handers this season with a .329 wOBA (6th in MLB), .748 OPS (6th), and .255 BA (6th). The Reds are also hitting righties well over this past week with a .342 wOBA and .778 OPS. For what it’s worth, Cecconi faced this lineup last month and allowed three runs over five innings.Â
Grab the Reds on the moneyline for the full game and first five innings. Cincinnati has won four straight while Cleveland has lost four of its last five.

Braves vs. Brewers Predictions: Tuesday, June 10th
The Atlanta Braves won last night’s series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-1. It was a convincing win for an Atlanta team that’s been struggling lately. Let’s back the Brew Crew to get back on track on Tuesday night.Â
Before last night’s loss, Milwaukee was 10-3 over its previous 13 games. The Brewers had also won or split five of their previous six series before this one against Atlanta. Meanwhile, the Braves had lost seven straight before winning on Monday. They’re still just 4-14 over the last 18 games and 11-23 on the road this year.Â
Let’s get into the matchup, though. Brewers starter Quinn Priester was shaky earlier this season, but he’s been very productive lately. The right-hander boasts a 2.51 ERA over his past six outings (32.1 innings). He’s been effective as both a starter and a bulk reliever for Milwaukee.Â
We’ll get Priester starting today’s game. In his seven traditional starts this season, he owns an impressive 2.83 ERA. The righty has only two bad outings this year. If you take them out, Priester owns a 2.33 ERA across his nine other games.Â
The Braves have weak numbers against right-handed pitching lately. Over the past week vs. righties, they’re hitting just .206 (27th in MLB) with a .279 wOBA (24th) and .619 OPS (26th) as a team. The offense is also slumping recently, scoring three runs or fewer in six of the last 10 games.Â
On the other side, we have Grant Holmes starting for Atlanta. The right-hander has a 3.99 ERA and 4.54 FIP this season. He’s just an average starter and doesn’t offer much confidence overall. Holmes’ 10.4% walk rate (25th percentile) and 11.6% barrel rate (13th) are worrisome metrics in certain matchups.Â
To be fair, the Brewers aren’t hitting righties particularly well this season (.303 wOBA, 93 wRC+). However, the offense draws plenty of walks and doesn’t strike out often in this split. Over the past week vs. righties, Milwaukee has a high 13.5% walk rate (2nd in MLB) with a low 18.5% K rate (4th). The lineup will make it tough on Holmes.Â
The Braves’ starter also has some notable home/road splits. He has a 5.55 ERA and 6.40 FIP on the road this year compared to a 3.12 ERA and 3.51 FIP at home. Those road struggles stand out even more once you consider Holmes has pitched at home in six of his last seven starts.Â
Let’s back the Brewers to bounce back from yesterday’s loss. The Braves haven’t won two straight games since May 15-16, while Milwaukee hasn’t lost three straight in a month.Â
