Giants vs. Phillies Predictions: Thursday, April 17th

This series between a couple of the best teams in the National League has been a fun one to watch and it's almost sad to see it go! From big pitching performances to high scoring games this matchup has had its all and now it's time for the finale. 

The Phillies have the leg up in my mind today as Christopher Sanchez heads to the mound against Jordan Hicks. Sanchez has been solid in 2 of 3 starts this season – the one hiccup against the Dodgers can be forgiven, of course – and he’s looking to build up some more good stats against a Giants team that struggles against lefties. 

The Giants rank 10th in MLB in K-rate against lefties and they only have 3 hitters with a .250 average or above against them. I could really see the Giants offense having issues and their pitcher Jordan Hicks will not bail them out. 

Hicks has had his spot blown up the last couple of starts allowing 10 earned runs in 9.1 innings pitched and walked 4 batters as well! Hard to imagine he gets things turned around against this Phillies team at home that’s scoring 4.44 runs per game and boasts a lineup of heavy hitters. 6 of the everyday starters in the lineup hit well over .250 and many have an OPS of over .850! 

At this point you can assume I am all in on the Phillies in my MLB best bets today not only to win but to cover as well and then I am adding a prop on leadoff man Bryson Stott who has a .409 OBP against right-handed pitching this season. Stott is going to go over his hits/runs/RBIs as this lineup behind him will be humming!
