MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 3/27
Athletics vs. Blue Jays Predictions
It’s the first game of the season for both the A’s and the Blue Jays today as they embark on their 2026 journeys, and both teams have reasons for optimism. The Athletics have a stable of great young hitters, and the Blue Jays are on the heels of being one game away from winning the World Series! Luis Severino will face off against Kevin Gausman, which should be an interesting one, so let’s get into the numbers that matter.Â
Severino is many years removed from being a good pitcher at this point after posting a 4.54 ERA last season with 124 strikeouts and 50 walks in 162.2 innings pitched. He was also generous against lefties as they hit for a .270 average and .752 OPS against him. That puts guys like Daulton Varsho and Addison Barger in the driver's seat tonight, but more on that in a bit. Kevin Gausman will go tonight for Toronto, and he pitched so well down the stretch last postseason and may continue that momentum from his 2.93 ERA in October. He will have a leg up on these young hitters as well, given his dominance in categories like WHIP (1.06 last season) and K/BB (3.8 last season). I like the Blue Jays to come out on top tonight to start the season, take them on the Money Line.Â
Now back to the Blue Jays lefties I was discussing, and more specifically, Daulton Varsho! Varsho is not a get-on-base guy, but he does pack a punch against right-handed pitching. In his 198 plate appearances last season, he hit 18 home runs and had an OPS of .865 despite an average of just .232. It only takes one pitch, which is a cliche, but it's true here today. Varsho over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs is going to be the prop to play.Â
- Pick: Blue Jays Money Line (-170 on FanDuel)
- Pick: Daulton Varsho (TOR) Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-125 on DraftKings)

Angels vs. Astros Predictions
The Angels and Mike Trout took the opening game in this series yesterday, but it's back in action for the second game tonight, and I like the prospects for the home team Astros. Yusei Kikuchi will pitch against Mike Burrows on the mound, which could produce some offense but let’s dive into the matchup.Â
Kikuchi was a gas can last season, no way around it and especially on the road. Over 89.1 innings pitched he posted an ERA of 5.04 while allowing 46 walks and 97 hits! Opponents hit .280 off of him as well, and he went 1-8 in the win/loss column. Those numbers should get you excited for the Astros offense tonight and especially Yordan Alvarez, who is guilty of his fair share of lefty on lefty crime. In a 45-game sample size last season, Alvarez took 32 at-bats against southpaws, and he made them pay with a 1.104 OPS and had 21 total bases. I like the big man to get his season started off right after a 0-3 game yesterday and go over his hits/runs/RBIs prop tonight.Â
In addition to that, I like the matchup for Burrows, who played well down the stretch last season with a 2.6 ERA and 17 strikeouts on 17 innings pitched in the month of September. On top of that the Astros have been one of the best home teams in baseball dating back several years and were 46-35 last season. Astros on the Money Line for me tonight to complement my prop on Yordan Alvarez.Â
- Pick: Astros Money Line (-160 on BetMGM)
- Pick: Yordan Alvarez Over 1.5 Hits/Runs/RBIs (-140 on DraftKings)
OTHER MLB BEST BETS & PROPS
- Pick: Chris Sale (ATL) Under 6.5 Strikeouts (-115 on DraftKings)
- Pick: Michael King (SD) Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-155 on DraftKings)
